How long does this take to get approved?

It depends on what Service Center you are filing through. I filed mine for a fiance through the Vermont Service Center and it was approved in a couple of weeks. This was in February, so I don't know if things have changed.

There is no way to tell how long it is going to take for your petition to be approved. Not only can the service centers vary greatly at times, but it also depends on the circumstances of the case i.e. RFE can be sent for missing, incomplete or additional documentation/evidence which takes time, also any hold up with the background/security checks.
