OK so last night we were going over all the things that they will be asking hubby when he goes to CDJ - and I was telling him about how we can do a fingerprint check before we go for only $18 and stuff... but since he's never been fingerprinted it should show up as nothing... and I re-confirmed with him that he's never ever had any issues with police ever. Then he says - well there was one time when I was 14 they made him spend the night in jail for being drunk or something... but they didn't take his finger prints, only his name, and this was in Mexico somewhere... never ever anything here other than a ticket for driving without a license and insurance... which was paid. So my question is... when they ask this question, are they talking about here in the US or are they talking about everywhere... because even though he was a stupid kid getting drunk at 14 - they will probably send him off the the shrink and I want to avoid that????

They are talking everywhere but that is not a crime it was only a "civil offense" so, it doesn't count and specially because he was a minor, therefore it's not in his record, even if it was, in Mexico records for minors are only release with a judge order, so don't worry about it

Hi Tammy. Some things to know about FBI Background Checks:
-Not all local police departments send in the fingerprints to the FBI. Each individual department has discretion over if they want to comply or not.
- If you are never convicted of a crime then your prints are suppose to be deleted from the FBI database. If they are on there you can request to have them removed.
-You can always call the department where SO was arrested and ask what their procedure for sending fingerprints to the FBI.
Obviously your situation is a little different because your SO was arrested in Mexico.
You can always request the fingerprint info from the FBI, do a regular criminal background check on the internet, and check his driving record.
Also, Laurel addressed petty crimes for minors in her chat today. You should check out the log of the chat after it is posted. It may help you more.
Hoped I helped!!! Good luck.
