It is $1010 now since they increased the fees, $930 for the application fee and $90 for the biometrics.

The fee includes the work authorization (EAD), biometrics, and adjustment.
It also includes advanced parole, although that is not applicable to K3s.
Thanks a lot for your answers.

Arrrggg!!!
Continually in this immigration process I am always finding out a little too late on shortcuts that would:
A.) Save my family lots of grief
B.) Save my family some time in the immigration process
C.) Save my family some money in the immigration process
D.) All of the above
After my wife and stepchildren were admitted to the U.S. under K-3/K-4 visas we could have done AOS through an easy Infopass appointment (in fact, until mid-June when they made it non-mandatory for our local El Paso office we were *supposed* to do it that way)...
It is a program called DORA. We could have otherwise paid the old fee structure because our I-130s were approved soon enough, and had the relative ease of an Infopass appointment! But it was a case of knowing too little (and never being told at the Consulate or any other dealings with USCIS for that method) too late.
Sometimes I feel like I have a sign on my forehead...
And when the 'helpline' at USCIS is just as unknowledgable as me it doesn't help...
If the fee increase hadn't gone in place this would still be a viable option for us instead of the CDJ immigrant interviews I managed to arrange...
Why can't we have an immigration system where the left hand knows what the right hand is holding (CDJ, seeing on a K-3/K-4 interview that the residence is within the El Paso district, and thus actually telling the applicant the mandatory (at that time) method for them to do AOS)?

Hmmm, so after we get Mr. Adriane's K-3, we file for AOS and EAD- but the EAD is included in the $1010? Can we still enter and leave the country while AOS is pending (since it's K-3)?

K-3 visas are multi-entry visas valid for two years and do not need Advance Parole like one does when they enter on the K-1.
USCIS states 'It will not be presumed that departure constitutes abandonment of an adjustment application that has been filed."

OK... dum questions, once we receive a K3 visa, will need to do AOS once entered.... what happens with the 130 that needs to be fowarded to CDJ.. can't we wait for the interview and get the GC that way so we don't have to pay $1010... we can just pay for the EAD?...
I mean, if you do AOS, what happens with the 130 file?

Nadiah you will need to decide which route you would like to take....file for AOS or return to CDJ for the CR-1 interview. Many of us are in the same position and most of us would rather do AOS, despite the extra cost. When you factor in travel, hotel, etc.... it probably ends up being around the same amount of money. In my case, our I-130 was not completed at the NVC until July 07 so we are still looking at a long wait for our interview. AOS is probably faster, and in the long run a lot less stressful (hopefully!).

Wow, the thing is that we have like 5-6 more months till we get another interview in CDJ for the 130 so we have not made up our mind on what to do... I know the AOS take like 8-12 months, so we don't know. I mean it does make sence of all the airfare and hotel accomodations and food and taxis that it will come out the same.... I don't know, I guess we'll see..
Thanks for your resonce, I was a bit confused!!!1
