Never thought I would be posting in this area lol.
I'm Melissa. I used to be a member here a long time ago and have been a member of VisaJourney.com since 2004.
This is my story (the seriously abbreviated version)
Filed K-1 for my Mexican deported fiance, denied at the interview under false accusations of drug addiction (long story-if you want to know, ask)-they gave a 3 year ban for that, no waiver available.
Got married to Mexican-filed for IR-1, got all the way to the NVC when I decided it was time to get a divorce. Not interested in undergoing the waiver writing process again for someone I was no longer in love with.
So basically, immigration LOVES me (they have all my money). I've had a waiver prepared previously (and I highly recommed attorney Laurel Scott to anyone doing waivers). I failed miserably at the immigration and marriage thing first time around and vowed never to do either again. BUT out of all of this came the best thing that's ever happened to me-the love of my life Edwin.
We're both 25, he's from Guatemala, he came EWI about 5 years or so ago. He's been right under my nose the whole time-he works in the kitchen where my soon-to-be ex-husband was a waiter. Through a bizarre set of coincidences we hooked up and have been seeing each other for almost a year. He recently told me he wants to marry me so I see both marriage and immigration in my future yet again!
Fun times ahead! Wanted to introduce myself and see who all is here. I can tell you anything you want to know about Mexican immigration but when it comes to Guatemala I'm clueless so I'll need all the help I can get!

welcome! where are you in MD?
I live in Beltsville, but I spend lots of time in Bowie-that's where my parents live and even more time in Glen Burnie-that's where Edwin lives.
I see you're in Baltimore-are you in the city or the general area?

Not really all that close but not far either. That's actually closer to where I work than to where I live. I work in NE DC right next to Hyattsville/Takoma Park. You're braver than me to try cuitlacoche...where did you all go?
I'm not exactly sure where Owings Mills is. Have you ever been to Cancun Cantina or Iguana Cantina?

it was called la fondita in edmonston...basically it was someone's living room with about 4 tables in it. and i TRIED cuitlacoche--didn't "eat" it. it tasted fine, really benign...but i couldn't eat it because of the way it looked. baby poo with corn kernels...
owings mills is directly northwest of baltimore, maybe 5 miles. i hate iguana cantina and i've never been to cancun cantina...i go to oasis or latin palace (though that's getting real old real fast).

I also hate Iguana. The first and last time I went there was a few weeks ago. It was like being in hell. We go to Cancun Cantina on Sunday nights. It's very very different. Smaller, not "ghetto" and much better for dancing. It would be cool to see you guys there.
Just wanted to say thanks everyone for stopping in and saying hi!!!

Yeah it does suck that it's on Sunday nights. I'm pretty much dead at work on Mondays.

Welcome back. We are also going through Guatemala and are just waiting for an interview date at this point. We live across the river from you in Virginia.

Hi again, everyone! So I've been looking around and so far I've seen only one approved waiver through Guatemala. Is it that they're stricter than CDJ or is it just that there are not as many of us? I'm big on researching and getting as much information as possible so the lack of history on this makes me a little nervous...

i think that there's not that many who have completed the process from gtm. most people we have through there are still in the middle of things.

Yeah, that's what it seems like. I'll be anxious to see what happens with some other cases. I read the hsl that was approved and we don't have as much hardship as that case-it would be nice to be able to compare with a similar level of hardship. Of course it's been so long since I've even thought about this stuff so I may have to re-evaluate my hardships.

I don't even know where that thing is lol! I thought about that but as you know lots has changed since then. Since Edwin's situation is a little more complicated than Javier's I would probably definitely go back to Laurel. Or actually I could hire you probably since you did it just fine on your own! ;)
