Corona1026 - We put EWI (well actually our lawyer did)

If you look in the small print below where you put your answer - it gives options, visitor, student, stowaway, without inspection, etc...

Do not put n/a - because he is infact in the country - and you have to be honest on the forms.

I hope that helps!

And don't forget to put down the date he arrived. This is important.

You are welcome Corona!!

as for the dates - I *hope* it is okay that we just put the month and year. My husband is HORRIBLE at dates - and he can only remember the month/year. I'm drilling him already on important dates in our lives so that he won't mess up at the interview!

I have not heard that anyone has had a problem doing this - it is just my feeling on it!!

Ok, just to be extra clear, I listed the 4 questions for section #14...

If your relative is currently in the US complete the following:

He or She arrived as a: (Visitor, student, stowaway, without inspection, etc.)
I would put without inspection, right?

Arrival/Departure Record (I-94)
Not sure what to put???

Date Arrived (mm/dd/yyyy)
I should put 08/1990? He knows it's in August but not sure of the exact day. Can I make up a day?

Date authorized stay expired, or will expire, as shown on Form I-94 or I-95
Not sure what to put

Thanks everyone for your help! This site is GREAT!!!

Date Arrived (mm/dd/yyyy)
just put 08/1990 Do not make up a date. I am sure the month and year is fine.

Date authorized stay expired, or will expire, as shown on Form I-94 or I-95

PERFECT!! Thanks Angela for the info. I was so worried I was going to put something wrong. And I probably would've if I wouldn't have asked.

Thanks again! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Corona1026: Thanks to the advice of others on the website, we put down the date of 11/?/1997 as our date because we were not sure of the exact date. We knew it was around the end of November because he was present on 12/1/1997 when he received his driver's license so that was proof that he was definitely here at the end of November.

Djones, will they ask for some type of proof of when he came to the US? I'll have to have start digging for something if we do need to. Not even sure where to begin...

I am not sure if they will ask. My husband saved his bus ticket from TX from 8 years ago. Thank goodness. We also know that his daughter was born in Oct 1998 so he was here after that. I would get something if you can just in case, but I don't think they will ask.

I agree. Just find some receipt or something that might show that he was definitely here in case they ask. I haven't heard that it was absolutely necessary but it would certainly prove his presence here in case they did ask. Dealing with immigration, they could ask anything. Just be prepared. One attorney we met with basically said to find receipts -- I do know that he was telling us that because my son-in-law is close to meeting his 10-years here and if he is caught, we could ask for cancellation of removal versus being removed or granted voluntary departure. Please remember that we are only trying to cover all of our bases and that is why the attorney told us that.
