For the sake of this thread, when I say "orginals", I mean actual originals or certified copies. We are preparing our things to send to the NVC and of course police certificates, birth certificate, and divorce decree are among the things. Now, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't NVC ask for originals? Also, doesn't Rio request originals for the interview? Does this mean I need to two sets of originals? Please let me know your experience because I'm getting conflicting answers..

But here is the list of documents required at the interview and it also asks for originals with a copy:

Ok, just make sure that you take an extra original along with a photo copy. That's how my sister in law did. Your just taking an extra original just in case they miss place the one that you mailed to them at the NVC.

OK, so I do need two originals? One to mail, one to take in hand to Rio?

right. That's all you need. One for NVC and the other for the actual appt. Best of Luck = ).

you're going to need more than one original of things. we got 4 original copies of my husband's BC since we needed one for NVC, one for the interview, and who knows what else. that is, if brazil is the same as CDJ is.

My husband's aunt is getting these copies for us in his tiny rural town and they are giving her a really hard time and charging lots for it! I was really trying to keep my husband here until his interview is scheduled..

hmm that's really frustrating. my husband's mom was able to get his with no problem, she just walked in and they gave them to her...but i guess there's no comparison since we're dealing with differenc countries. is there any way for him to request them by mail?

Probably not..They seem to make everything difficult. His aunt is just going to have to push to get the things we need.

You don't need two originals! you have to show the original in Rio, thay will keek the copy and will retorn the original to you,in RIO thay just want to see the original, thay never will send the original to lima.

well my birth certificate looks real when you take colored copies of it. when I did my taxes this year I sent a copy of my BC with my W7 application to the IRS and they sent it back cause they thought it was an original. How would they know the difference????

Yes, but NVC asks for originals to get the interview in the first place. I'm not asking for Lima, I'm asking for
1. NVC
2. Rio de Janeiro
