View Full Version : World split

I don't feel good about the world split.
I would have split Mexiso into many threads and kept the rest of us together:yay2: unless the couple of very large threads wanted to split (I think - Panama and Honduras).
Those of us from the rest of the world rely to some degree on the local thoughts, but also we need support on the general sameness of our problems.
I feel having to select where I look across the world is not positve. Sometimes I may have a chance to help someone in England, India, Moscow or Ghana - why not? :waiting:

The thought behind all this was to be able to easily locate the relevant information for each district/consulate, etc.

For example, if you are new and looking for information on waivers through Vienna, you no longer have a 20-page list to go through, you can find all the relevant information there. As more people join the site and we get more information, it'll hopefully be more helpful and efficient ...

That said, this was definitely not designed to stop anyone from helping anyone from any other area of the world. We definitely want the collaboration, but as the site grows, it seems cumbersome to have so much info lost in such a general forum.

Do others have input on the changes - positive or negative? Please let us know. And doug please let me know what you think...

im sort of divided as well. I know this is a positive move, especially because now things are more orginized. i think i need time to get adjusted. I would like to keep track of the hsl letter review, a member complained once that since it had been turned into a sub forum that hardly anyone gave feed back, im scared that now that its in the main page it may get neglected.....who knows.

oh yeah and this morning it took forever for me to figure out that they moved laurel's chatt logs...:bounce:

i think we all need time to adjust......maybe the change is better.....although i do see your point about the world split...

It never really made sense to put HSL review or the Laurel Scott chat logs inside the Mexico forum though, because those are for everyone. Hopefully once everyone gets used to everything it will be okay.

Now that the HSL review forum is going more people comment there. It is an adjustment, but I think for new people looking for specific help, hopefully it's better.

Keep the comments coming though.

I love it. I think it is easier!

Personally I am not going through Mexico so I would have to go the link where it was I-601 other countries and fumble through pages and pages on info until I could find something that pertained to me! I still go to the other countries and "visit" and give input when I can!

This seems to be typical with change. People get comfortable and when something changes everyone starts running around going crazy because it is out of the norm. Everyone can still help everyone, you just might have to click a few additonal times. Good exercise for the fingers. :D But this is just my opinion.

I think I like it. As far as helping other people, its easy to go to the new posts section and see posts from all the forums.

I have observed that people are staying active in all the forums, so that is good.

If anyone has suggestions or wants a sticky in one of their related areas please let us know.

I was reading some of the results from the I2US survey and a couple people commented that they would like information from their particular area in a sticky or otherwise easily accessible.

If you have requests like this, just let myself or any of the other mods know and we will work on it. We don't see everything that is going on and would be useful all the time.

I like the new changes, but they do not affect me that much since I usually use the "New Posts" feature to check in on all the threads, and then since I am waiting on our 601 waiver through Mexico, if I have more time I check out that specific thread.

:wink:6000+ post on Mexico still seems like an imbalance compared to less than 100 for all the other places:eyes:.

I think the Mexico majority is just a reflection of the reality of illegal immigration in this country. There seem to be more illegal immigrants from Mexico than from everywhere else, for obvious reasons.

I'm new and in the research phase of all of this, so it is very helpful to me, because I haven't started any of my paperwork and I read the different threads daily and it is so easy for me to decide which category to research.

I think it might help if Mexico had a few more categories:smirk:.
Maybe awaiting interview, around interview and backlog, along with general Mexico isses and news - :shy:just as an example:shy:.

Exactly. The imbalance for Mexico is because there are simply many more Mexicans that are married to USCs and need waivers than for anyone else. I certainly hope people from any country feel welcome here though.

I think it was important for the people from other places to be able to find others who are in the same boat and then share stories about their process.

Well... I feel that with all these new I-160 forums, it takes me forever to scroll down to AOS section... but I don't have a problem with them being split up.

Just my 2 cents :)

I love that Lima has it's own thread now, before I had to go through pages and pages before finding it (because Lima is not as popular)
