As some of you know, I am a journalist. Recently a colleague of mine and I decided to do a fairly involved project about people trapped in Juarez due to immigration (like me- except I can't report about myself.)

We're looking for people who might be willing to share their stories. If that's you or someone you know, please PM me and we can talk about this further.

Specifically, we're looking for:

A) people who were deported to Mexico after living most of their lives in the US and have not yet found a legal way to get back. For instance someone who was brought as a child and grew up in the US and then was picked up & removed- not married to a USC.

B) people in situations like mine where a US citizen marries an EWI and winds up living in Juarez either waiting out a ban or waiting for a waiver to be approved.

C) people from further south in Mexico or Latin America that came up to Juarez with the intention of sneaking into the US but were unable or were caught and released and are now "stuck" in CDJ, either waiting to try & EWI again or have decided to stay in CDJ permanently.

If you've got other ideas that we could incorporate, I'd certainly be interested in hearing them.

Sounds awesome! I'm sorry, you are the only person I know currently living in CDJ. :)

Whenever this gets done, please post a link so we can read it!

Just a thought..there are tons of stories about Mexico/Latin American immigration issues. It puts a "Mexican" slant on the story, and people tend to forget that those of us with spouses from other non-Latin coutnries face the same problems with immigration. It would do a world of good to show the immigration trials of non-Hispanics along with those from the Latin American countries.

You're absolutely right, most immigration stories are about Mexicans.

However, this story will be largely about how Juarez factors into the immigration issue as a whole- and what effect immigration has had on the city. If I find non-Mexicans here in Juarez because of US immigration woes, yes, I'll certainly include them.

But I agree, immigration as a whole really should be covered from all angles, especially as the processes involved are often different country to country.
