Does a valid passport help an EWI?

Other than the fact that you will need it at some point during processing of paperwork, not really...

As much as I wish it did, simply having a passport does not make a person "legal." My husband has a perfectly valid passport, but it will do him no good-- other than the fact that we'll have to have it later on in the immigration process. I sure wish I had better news for you... :(

Thanks, my husband doesn't have one and has the opportunity to get a valid one. I just didn't know if it was essential early in the process or not.

Not essential early in the process, but if I were you, I would get it done if you have the chance.

Laura is right- he *will* need it later and better to have it now. Member kennah missed her appointment and had her whole process delayed- with her husband in Mexico- because they thought he could get one quickly and then he couldn't....

Thanks everyone! I guess I'll send my hubby off to get one then. He has to go out of state, so I wasn't sure if it would be worth the trip, now I know it is.

Again, thanks for the quick replies, which will ease my mind tonight!

Yes... it is definitely worth the trip so that you don't have to wait on it later. My husband got his passport from the Honduran consulate who traveled from Atlanta to Columbia, SC to give passports to Honduran citizens who didn't have them.

Good luck on your trip! :)
