I finally have everything together and am ready to mail this baby off tomorrow...but, now I'm a little confused as to what to do.
My income on my 2007 taxes is just a little below the 125% poverty line, so I was planning on using assets to make up the difference. However, on Friday I got the employment verification letter from my employer and it provides proof that for the upcoming year I will actually be over the 125% line (yay!). So, now I'm not sure what to put as my income on the form! Should I go with what the employment letter says or go with last year's taxes and use the assets?
I've been thinking about just sending in all of the assets evidence anyway just to be sure that I meet the income requirements, but I'm not sure what to list as my income.... Any thoughts?

That's great news!! I think for the income, don't you have to put whatever is on your income tax returns? The gross income? I would think that you could write your income as that, and then attach an extra sheet of paper where you explain how your income will be higher next year.
But you could also put some assets down so that you definitely qualify the first time around. I read on the FAQ on the USCIS that if you are the spouse of the intending immigrant you only need to demonstrate that you have assets three times the amount of the difference. (not the 5 times like for other sponsors)

That's basically what I was planning to do. Just wanted to make sure that my plan sounded logical. I'll just send everything that I have in and hope for the best. It's a good thing that we only need 3x the difference amount, because I don't think I could muster the 5x without having a hardcore garage sale. :D
I'm so psyched to get this in the mail tomorrow. One step closer...

Yeah! That is exciting! I just mailed mine on the 8th. Do you think they will send us something that says, complete, or 'looks good' or something?

I'm thinking they probably don't, but I honestly have no clue! hmmm...
Well, you'll be able to call and find out if your case is complete for sure since you sent in the ds-230 the same day. Just keep bugging the crabby operators...hehe

More questions...now I'm starting to doubt myself!
For the mailing address of principle immigrant, I put our address here in the US. Is that correct or should I be putting his family's address in Mexico?
My 2005 and 2006 tax returns are way under the poverty line. But my 2007 is just a bit under and I can makeup the difference with assets. I made copies of the 2005 and 2006 to send so that I could provide as much evidence as possible, but now I'm worried that they could actually reflect negatively on me because they are so low? Do you think it worth sending them too or not? I know the previous year is the only year required...but I'm trying to include everything possible not to get a RFE....

Bre, If I was you, I would send them too. I have an attorney and his requesting the three years for taxes. It's better to be safe. Add any assets taht you have. Good Luck

I guess the form requires me to report those measily incomes anyway, so I can send in the proof that I was way poor.
What about the address, anyone??
