I know not alot of people have been doing k3 so I have NO idea if this is normal or not..
My I-129f and I-130 were both approved at the end of March
My I-129f was received at CDJ and was "qualified" on May 7
I have my CDJ number .. which I thought meant my case was at the consulate??
The lady said to expect my appointment date at any time now
Today I got 2 letters/packets ..from NVC.. they have my CDJ number on it so it's not about my I-130 right.. its about my I-129f ?
One is about the Choice of Agent form .. and the other is about the AOS fee .. They both say nothing will happen until I send the forms back.. and that I will get the other forms next..
Which I was 99% sure that they only send you these forms for the I-130 I'm lost whats going on? I would have thought this was about my I-130 but I have a CDJ number which I thought I got AFTER leaving NVC..
I guess it looks like they are giving me an option? But then why does it have my CDJ number
I dunno.. I'm lost.....!!!

My stomach hurts I'm really confused and if I have the choice I have to sit down with hubby and re-evaluate it .. but I am also worried this is some kind of mistake or something I am going to have to fix.. does anybody know why I got these forms ?

Tasks noooooooooooppppeee that's on your I-130!!!! The Choice of Agent Form and the AOS fee is for the IR1 process. I would call them and see what's going on. Either they are processing yoru K-3 or your IR. If they give you the option you know which one to pick. LUCK!

Yeah it looks like they are doing both which I did NOT think they did anymore.. I was just confused because I had never any done any research on exactly what forms for the I-130 so I didn't instantly recognize that it even was for the I-130.. in one tiny place it did say CR1 .. and it took me a while to notice the CDJ numbers are different.. my slow butt thought that CDJ number meant it was actually IN CDJ .. I guess not! I'm so slow :bleh: I just didn't expect this I hadn't even checked on my I-130 now I wish I had !!!!!! I could have been doing the shortcuts.. rawr.
You know I instantly thought of Angela.. I was ready for CDJ and did not really mind either way.. but Angela REALLY wanted to have the choice.. I hate how they are so inconsistent !!!!!! Angela I wish I could give you my option.. too bad it doesn't work that way..
So I guess anyone else who had both approved from CSC be on the lookout don't forget to check up on your I-130 like I did..

lol!! I just wish my stupid butt had checked on my I-130 at least once.. I assumed it would be 'dead' so I never checked .. apparently it was sent May 5 geez since when does mail take 10 days? If I had known I would have been doing the shortcuts!
I guess I'm going with the I-130 !! I'm a little aprehensive because I haven't seen anyone else have this happen but the guy at NVC told me it was active and valid and fine.. no potential problems right?

I think that as soon as you can get that AOS Fee and the Choice of Agent in the better. They will see that you are going to pursue that venue and drop the I-129. So exciting.

I wonder are they still going to give me an appointment for k3 and do I have to cancel it?
Yeah I'm going to try emailing in the choice of agent .. in James shortcuts it says thats fine .. and I'm trying to pay online but they don't want to give me an invoice number even though I know lots have paid online..

Yup! Mine do too..
Do you guys think I will have to cancel/stop my I-129f or just let it ride or something..

05-16-2008, 07:48 PM
well if the I129 gives you a sooner appointment, that can be something you can do.
but if its only 1-2 months diference then i would just stik with the I-130 and finish the process.

Task I really don't know. Before, way before, you were able to attend your K-3 appointment and at the appt ask them to switch it to the I-130 appointment but that was a while ago. I guess we will have to wait and see! :)

*Before things changed* My husband got his appt. in the K-3 timeline, but when we got our appt packet it was for the IR1. If I were you I would continue with the I130 as fast as you can, maybe somehow when the time comes for you K3 appt. you will be able to switch. Good Luck!

Oh that switching stuff is so confusing to me.. so they might give me the immigrant visa even if my I-130 wasn't fully processed yet? Or it has to be fully processed? Oh I think I get it.. ahh my head hurts :(
tasksgirl
05-16-2008, 11:28 PM
Does anyone else know anything about switching? So, potentially I could go for my K3 appointment and then receive an immigrant visa if all my I-130 processing is done?? aye that is very stressful because it's not for sure is it ?

Thats right MMGCA - as for the rest of the numbers in your case # (if anyone cares) - the next three numbers are the Julian Date that your case was entered at NVC. To find the Julian date - if your case got to NVC on Jan. 1, that is the 1st day of the year - and then you add 500 to it.
And the last three numbers represent the place you were in line that day - what case yours was as for them entering that day. So if they entered 100 cases, and your case was the 101 - then your entire case number would then be CDJ2008501101 - 2008 (the year) 501 (the Julian date) and 101 (what case you were that day for them)
Now who's the dork! :D

hey tasks....
i remember mach12 got two appointments one for the k-3 and one for the I-130. She went to the first one and was put into backlogg, once you are in backlogg however, you cant subimit another waiver so she had to cancel the k-3 but if they give you both appointments you can go and just ask to do the I-130 so you dont have to adjust here......does that make sense?
here appts were a month apart and her hubby wont have to adjust here because both cases were approved, all you have to do is change it.......

I had originally filed for the I-130 but my lawyer filed an I-129 once my husband went to Mexico. We didn't cancel the I-130. We just didn't send the additional forms. He said that the I-130 is on file for 10 years and that we should keep it just in case so we didn't cancel. So I went to CDJ on the I-129. A year later, I got a letter from NVC asking if the I-130 was going to be pursued. My lawyer just faxed it back with yes to keep it open. I received all the forms again. Haven't sent them back. But the case is open in case I need it. Having 2 cases has not been a problem for us. Can it cause problems?

This seriously made me ROFL ... I'm batman!! :)
Actually - I could keep my secrets here and just let you all think I am this smart and geeky
...
or I could find the link to the site/page where I read it when familiarizing myself with the NVC process last year. For some reason, I am more of a sponge than an encyclopedia - I read, retain and regurgitate (sp?!)
Here - so you all can be as smart as me ... :bleh:

Its in the first 'bluish' paragraph describing the NVC

So basically.. all my paperwork for the I-130 would have to be done.. lets say my appointment for k3 is July 1.. maybe I can finish my paperwork by then but cutting it close.. then I wouldn't know whether or not I'd be leaving to CDJ until the very last minute? (because if I couldn't get the immigrant visa at the k3 interview then I would just want to wait until the CR1 interview..)
Has anyone been able to switch lately? When? I need to ask Laurel in the next chat..
