Hola! I am asking this question on behalf of a member of another forum. Apparently his wife is banned for life because she tried to cross claiming U.S. citizenship at the bridge. He is a Citizen. Is there anything he can do? Can he adjust her status or is it a done deal?

It's a done deal. They'll need to start planning their life in another country. There is nothing that can be done.

Thanks, he knows this but I wanted to ask anyway. So sad, they already live in Mexico so he accepts it. He is just wondering why drug dealers get a five year ban with an opportunity to file a waiver. Immigration laws need reform badly.

Drug dealers get lifetime bans too...
There is nothing they can do though, it's very unfortunate.

I thought so about drug dealers but if he mentioned this it's probably because he knows someone who wasn't banned. Just guessing.

Forgive my dumb question...but how did they know that she claimed to be a US citizen? Did she get caught or did she release that info......just curious??

Apparently she was crossing into El Paso with some friends and they claimed Citizenship upon crossing and she was caught. I don't know how long ago this happened but he mentioned that he's been working on this for about 8 years and that the adjudicator told them it was a lifetime ban. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and is a retired educator I just wish the U.S. had more humane laws it really makes me angry.

100% a lifetime ban- no waiver, ever.
I'm so sorry.
