Thanks so much dorothea...but the truth is I just want to see everyone else approved and reunited...my husband and I will be reunited in about 5-6 weeks with or without an approval. I just keep praying for everyone to be reunited with their family members and that God's will be done in my life and situation.

I totally agree with that...and then I have to remember to just keep the faith...and i have to remind myself of that every night.

Oh poo... not for TOO long!
Well, I was going to go for a few days in October, my Elias asked me to wait because he has a karate tournament in November and I'd love to go see that. Then I'll go probably on Christmas and stay a few weeks with him during my break...
I don't think I can afford two trips in two months, but I am hoping my parents will offer to buy one for a Christmas gift..... and anyway, I don't care what my credit card bill looks like. It just doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things.
I just keep wondering how I will go another... 3-4 months... I may be a total nut case by then. Or the poor man will be asking for a divorce because only he deals with me at my most crazy!:bang::beam:

I know my mom and dad just offered to buy me a plane ticket for my birthday in september, so we will see what happens before then.....My credit card is also through the roof!!! Unreal!!!!

I guess its a good thing I don't have a credit card....I just keep looking at my finances and wondering how I am actually going to be able to move back to Mexico in September. But I keep trying to remind myself that God will provide.
It just seems that everytime I turn around I am having to spend extra money on my car!

Please say a prayer for me...

I hear you on the credit card, mnava! When I stop and think about it, it freaks me out to think about what we're going to do when my fiance can come back and we have to deal with the big disaster our life has turned into with this immigration saga. We're going to be working our rears off to catch up again - but at least we will be together :)

Dorothea, keep your eye on flight deals - maybe you will find a great deal and you can sneak in a long weekend visit sometime!! Hang in there, girl - once the semester really gets going the time will fly by!

In limbo, you are another Laura? Hi!

I'm hanging in... I am still checking flights almost every day! I'm already excited about seeing him in 4 months!!
You're right, once school is started (in just 5 days!!!! EEK!!!) time will go a bit faster. My mom keeps telling me my phone bill is too high, and I just shrug and say it's totally worth it for me. :)

LOL Yup, I'm "another Laura" - there are too many Lauras in this world! Just kidding.

Dorothea, I use a phone card called Bizon that I buy online at www.phone-calling-cards.biz

I use that website at least several times a week, adding more money to my phone card :D

They have a ton of different phone cards - the rate for the Bizon card when I call to Mexico City is like 1.9 cents a minute or something like that. The rate depends on what part of Mexico you're calling to...I'm blanking on where your husband lives right now...

Dorothea

I will check that out. I have the Tel3advantage thingy, and I have international calling on my cellphone. The problem is that I talk to him on his cell most of the time so that rate is way higher, something like $.25- $.28/ minute as opposed to a landline at like $.05/min.
It doesn't really matter... so far I haven't topped $70/mo. I don't think that's too bad. I'm sure a lot of people pay double!
It's not too big a deal considering we only get to talk twice a week.

Dorothea
08-22-2007, 04:56 AM
Holy crap, how can it be so much cheaper??????
Do you really get the number of minutes they say you get?????
Wow, everyone should know about these phone cards!

Dorothea, wow you guys must have a LOT of self-control! We talk ALL THE TIME. I have never bothered to add up how much we spend a month (that's some good budget and financial management, huh?) - mostly because I'm afraid to know how much we spend.

I used to only call him on a landline, like at his mom's house or at his sister's house but lately I've been calling his cell phone a lot more. So I actually have two calling cards - the Bizon one for when I call a land line and another one, called Everest, for when I call his cell phone. I think the cell phone rate is the same for all of Mexico, no matter where the person is. But I'm not sure...

The Everest phone card rate to cell phones is about 16 cents a minute - not bad when you look at a lot of other cards. The other thing you really have to look at is whether or not there's a connection fee (like some cards charge you a set amount every time you make a call, even if you just talk for a minute. If you make a lot of short calls you will burn through your $ very fast). I think the Everest and Bizon cards don't have any connection fee.

I sometimes used "Knockout" calling cards from a Mexican grocery store near our old apartment. My fiance always used to use those when he called his family. But after using that and then these internet ones, the Knockout card seemed like a real ripoff - like I would just lose huge chunks of time on the card. I would definitely swear by the phone-calling-cards.biz site! I hope you can find something that will let you and your husband talk more!!

This is a link to a list of the cards with the cheapest rate to cell phones in Mexico: http://www.phone-calling-cards.biz/p/buy.php?idcountry=434

You'll notice that the Everest card is the 3rd one down, but if you look on the righthand side of the table, you'll see that Everest has no weekly maintenance fee, no connection fee, and it rounds to only 1 min (unlike others that charge ~$1/week and round to 3 minutes). That's why I picked it.

Okay, I'm totally starting to feel like a salesperson for that site, but it really has worked really well for me. The other thing I really like about it is that once you set up your account, you can save your billing info w/ your acct, so it's really easy to add more $ to your phone card - just a few clicks and you're back in business (look for the cards that say "Refillable card." - Everest and Bizon are both refillable). You can also link your telephone # with the calling card so that when you call the calling card # it automatically recognizes your phone # and you don't have to enter the PIN.
