Hey Guys! I would appreciate it if you said a teeny tiny little prayer for me. My husband has been the sole bread winner for more than two years and it is time I contribute, now that I can  I've applied for a job and I am pretty excited. I'm just a little skeptical because they are going to be like "this 22 year old girl has really no work experience and giant employment gaps." I just hope they call me. Not to mention my name is all huge because SS said that when I apply for jobs I have to go by whats on my green card so its like Can......... D CA..... de Va...... can you imagine someone is going to see it and think I am a lot of work lol.

Good luck Candy - get out there and apply, apply, apply! I'm sure that you will be able to find something. You just have to be persistent. After going through the immigration stuff, finding a job should be a cakewalk!!! :bounce:

Wow that is a long name. my kids are going to kill me they will each have five names. That is my plan anyways. My husband thinks I am nuts.

For a boy = Ruel Raymundo Juan "Maiden name"-"Married name"
For a girl = Isabel Michelle Juana Ann "Maiden name"-"Married name" (opps that is six)

Anyways - GOODLUCK I have my fingers crossed for you!

Good Luck Candy - you might be surprised in terms of hearing back from them.

I was 19 and applied for my first 'real' office job (as a secretary) - with really minimal experience and no education related at all...it was for a property management company - and although it was a small office - they handled a 30 story building in downtown Mpls. Much to my surprise - they called me back at like 8:30 pm a couple of days later and offered me the job - after interviewing 3 other people!! I was shocked. Come to find out - on my first day - everyone in the office thought I was much older than I really was....heheh...

Your name might not scare them off too much!

Good luck and if its not this job you will find one soon...and it might not hurt to try a temp agency...that is how I got my first real job after working in restaurants for so long.

I will be praying for you.

Don't worry, you will be fine!!
Some advice, just use your fist and last name on applications and resume, then when you get hired, put all of your 20 names on the new hire forms.
My entire name is soooo long I get cramps everytime I have to write it, specially now that here in Mexico you have to put all of you names for everything.....:bounce:

Thanks everyone! I got a call back!! Is that good? I think so, right? They don't call everyone back do they?! They gave me a quick interview over the phone and told me that I would hear something by the end of the week :).

Yeah for the call back!

I agree with Nadiah too about the names.... You do not need to put all those names on applications! I used to hire people for a job, and lots of people just use like Juan Flores, when their name might be Juan Flores Lopez, or a woman: Juana Flores Lopez de Antunez - you don't need to write all that on an application if you don't want.

As long as it's on the W-4 and I-9, that's what matters for taxes, identity purposes. Unless you are planning to identify your self as Candy Flores Lopez de Antunez (for example) the rest of your career! :)

Good luck Candy!

Hearing back anything is good. When they have zero interest in you, you hear nothing. So good luck on the job search and hope you land something soon!!!
