Just wanted to get some input if anyone has experience dealing with the insurance company when your car is totaled in an accident. They (this is the other party's insurance as we were not at fault) have stated a price they offer with no opportunity to discuss their price. Has anyone had any success at negotiating what you are offered. Any tips?

you should let your insurance company deal with it. Don't talk to the other car insurance company at all.

That's what we did. They are trying to push you into settling for probably lower than what you could get.

Do you have an adjuster? Call them and see what they can do for you.

Yes.. don't talk to the adjuster from the other people's insurance... Work through your insurance company.

Had a car totalled a few years back, ex-husband life flighted and son ambulanced to the hospital. You would laugh if you saw the first offer they presented.

Good luck!

bluelue never said she had own damage cover.

First of all you have to substantiate your loss, relaistically what would it costs to replace the vehicle with one of the same age/milage/condition. How does that compare with their offer.
