Hello everyone,

I don't know where else to ask but I called a phone number (877 number) to schedule an appointment for my husband to get his passport so that he would have that ready before we leave. It quite a while before we do that but we don't want to be in a rush at the last minute. Anyway, they told me that my husband needs to have the following with him:

-birth certificate + 2 letter sized copies
-ID/licence
-Matricula
-2 passport photos (standard rules, i.e. no glasses, white background etc)

This is the second time I call and the first time they told me more things that I couldn't write everything down so this time they gave me a much shorter list. So I'm wondering if I'm missing anything?

Yes, that's all what you need. Just in case take a bill under his name. What state are you in?

Oh yeah you do need the bill...kinda like proof of address, if the matricula has his address that can be used as proof of address, but just take it anyway.

Guys do we need the pasport for the DS230?

I'm in Utah. A bill is a good idea, now that you mention it, I remember they asked him for one when he got his Matricula, so I'll throw that in.

And guess what? They gave my hubby an appointment all the way until Oct 31! Its ok I guess, there's still time left but I was amazed!

Wow, MMGCA and blktterfly that way to long. MMGCA why until June, you will need it for your DS form. You need it sooner! Can you go to the Mobile one?

Yeah I know, must be the volume of people requesting a certain document that makes for such "a long line."

In your other question though, are you asking if you need the actual passport for the ds230 or passport photos? because I googled it and no results came up, only for passport photos for that.

You better make sure you have one of the "new original" birth certificates instead of the "old original". We had the old type and they only gave my fiance a passport for one year. They really didn't want to do that but he sort of insisted. We had to get his family in Mexico to go and get us three "new originals" and send us.

The original my fiance had was the one his mother sent him from Mexico. It was all white with black print. The new originals from Mexico have an orange like border around them and are computerized instead of typed by a manual typewriter.

no, you dont need a matricula...ana, but you need a form of id. For example a credencial de votar, a certificate of school (with picture) some sort of id.

Im sooo happy b/c i found out that the consular sobre ruedas is going to be near my city on saturday!....yyaaaayy. so I started making phone calls to find out exacly where,so i called the Oxnard consulado they told me to call the wellsfargo in san luis obispo and ask if they still had "fichas" left.
So i did and guess what they said?? that i could get a ficha if i opened a checking acount and a savings acount. I was like :wha::shocked:. I needed $200 to open the stupid accounts. So ofcourse i said No thank you. then i call the Oxnard consulado and talk to the lady in charge of the conulado movil and told her the bank account story and she said !!No way!! that is not what its for, they are supposed to give you a ficha no matter what.

well at the end she gave me another number in SB and called and got my ficha...Yyaaayy i hope wells fargo gets in trouble for that.

now i dont have to wait until June 2 to get my passport, and i can send my DS230 this month!!......:yay2: and hopefully my case is complete at the biggining of june!!!

Guess what Perez????? I'm sooo happy because I emailed the consulate here in SLC and they got back to me and said that my husband could go in today and get his passport. WHOHOO! I had originally set up my appointment with the call center (the 877 #) so it seemed funny that when I emailed them, they would move him up so soon. Maybe there wasn't that much of a wait and the guy on the phone was just being a jerk. So my hubby has all that done!! Yes!! :yay2:

Wow, I thought you didn't need all that money to open up an account through Wells Fargo. We closed ours ages ago because their service sucked, we once had to pay 2 overdraft fees for a mistake they did! I'm happy you got your ficha w/o setting up an account that you weren't intending on opening.

I was not going to open an account just to get my passport. $100.00 for each account. crazy!! but yeah thanks all!

I just went on Monday and I needed 3 passport style pictures.

My BC and 2 photocopies of it.

An ID or titulo de estudios and 2 copies of it.

A black pen.

And you have to pay in cash.

That's all I needed.

By the way, MX now is giving new BC's like Misantito mentioned, they are done by the computer. They look very neat, and they include the CURP as well.

Hey everyone!

My husband originally had his appointment in Oct but when I emailed the consulate, they moved it up to yesterday and they emailed me the requirements as well when they told me of the new date and time. From what I checked on the other consulate websites (i.e. Salt Lake, L.A, San Diego, etc) they preety much have the same requirements as this email. So here's what I was sent for both the passport and the matricula, hope it helps!

Oh, one more thing. In the email it mentions the DL as proof of ID from the states of UT, WY, MT, and ID which are the requirements specifically for the consulate in UT, not for other consulates! But everything else that I noticed was similar, if not the same.
