We planned for my parents to sponsor my husband because I am a stay at home mom and I don't have an income. My parents have not done their taxes for this year yet and had to get a extension. Their accountant said that he would not be able to get their taxes done until late July. The thing is that both my parents are retired and live off an inhertience. They were going to have to show their assets instead of income for the I-864 form. I read over the form over and over again. Does anyone know if there is a way do to this form without using your tax documents? My parents can show ownership of enough stuff to cover my husband but won't be able to have their tax documents for 6-8 weeks.

I am so disappointed because I felt like we were on a roll and had an idea of when we were going to have to go to Mexico. This is a such a set back. Does anyone have any advice?

I just did this form, and it was very stressful! I re-read the directions, and it says you must attach the tax returns if they are required to file taxes. But, couldn't you attach the tax returns from the previous 3 years, and give a written explanation of why you don't have the most recent and when you will get it?
I actually don't know if that is good advice or not. Would having an RFE on the 864 hold things up, or could you go through with the whole thing and then update the 864 in the IV appointment? Maybe this would be a good reason to call CDJ and ask.
