Hi guys!
I'm just wondering if everyone has gone with their spouse to the visa pick up appointment... I'm torn between going and not going. I have 1 week vacation and since my husband has to have his medical exam redone he has to be there a few days before and his appointment falls on a Wednesday.... I wish I could spend all that time with him here and not in CDJ!! Is it necessary for the spouse to go to visa pick up appt???
I know there were a lot of people who had appointments this week, I'm just wondering if you went with your spouse... a lot of people tell me its necessary for me to go an sign off on something?????.. other people tell me they won't even let me in!! What is the truth???:eek1

I went with my husband to both appointments, but I think half of the member's have gone and the other half have not.

I went with my wife for the visa appointment and had no problems ( Montreal Consulate ). My wife wasn't present when I actually picked up her visa packet.

I'm not going to my husband's visa pick up on July 19th. We can't afford it, and I can't fly b/c our baby is due soon!! Good luck with your decision.

I just got back from Juarez for my hubby's pick up appointment. You don't have to go, they won't even let you in the consulate. If he can do it by himself by all means save your vacation time for time you can spend together and not worrying about immigration. That would be my advice. Good luck to you!!

You don't have to go..and yes everyone is correct..they won't let you in. I went just because I missed my husband so bad and I wanted to be with him when he landed in the US as a legal resident..I wanted to share that with him.

About half of us have gone and half has not...there's no right or wrong it is what is best for you.

I don't think I will even bother going. I did not go with him to his first appt. but he missed it by one day and they let him in the next day ,so it is up to him to mess it all up again :jumpy:

They won't let you in..I went last time for support..If I wasn't there my husband would have been a mess..heheh...

I plan on going for the visa pick up. We live about 6 1/2 hours from CDJ, so it's cheaper for me to drive rather than to get a plane ticket or bus to get him...

We have our appointment September 5th, with the new pilot porgram hopefully we can schedule the appointment and everythign works we're hoping to be there only a week. we have a 1.5 yr old daughter, and at first we were thinking of all going together since it was only for a week. but after reading a lot about the violence kidnappings etc we're leaning towards juat having my husband go, does anyone have any recommendaiotns? for the waievr approval is the spoouse requried to be there to hand the hardship letter there or can he just bring a certifed letter I write with him? has anyone ever taken their kids with them?

I didn't go because we couldn't afford it. I really wanted to be with him at the moment he crossed, but it ended up being better to not miss time at work. After he got here we took a trip to Florida so he could meet my dad and some friends, and see my mom again. I think your vacation time will be better spent after he is here, rather then waiting nervously in a hotel room. You can wait nervously at home! :)

I guess I'll just go for support as well... I'm very afraid that my husband will be a mess....
My uncle went with him to his first appointment, since my uncle is unemployed he offered to go with my husband so that I wouldn't miss work and since my uncle has been there many times before he ended up being very helpful..
This time my husband says he knows his way around.. but when it comes down to it I have a feeling he's going to be a mess

I have saved up my vacation just to be there the moment my husband comes out from the consulate with that yellow envelope in his hand. I just hope he gets approved very soon. To me it would be more about sharing the moment, and let me tell you I will have a huge pachanga when he gets approved.

I'm the same way Zamarrone. I didn't go to the first interview, and don't regret it, because I wanted to save the time up for vacation in real Mexico, but I wouldn't want to miss the pick-up.

Thanks Rpena. I'm actually writing this from a hotel in Wichita Falls, TX. Tomorrow afternoon I'll get to CDJ hopefully around the same time as my husband. It's been 4.5 months since I saw him!!!

I'm totally nervous, but hopefully all will go well!

I went with my hubby to the 1st appt. (was not allowed in consulate of course) and when i told hubby to go back to ask for an extension to finish 1st interview he went alone (i was back in dallas) well they decided to finish his appt. there and he went to his infopass appt. alone.

Well I certainly plan to go and get the hubby! I plan on having the kids stay with grandma and have some time with my hubby all to myself for a moment! And of course I want to see that glorious day when he walks across that border...legal! Then it is back to get the kids and be a complete family once again!
