I went to speak to my immigration lawyer today and she was telling me that they had received reports from some kind of congress something or other and they said that for every 1 pro-immigrant letter they recieve, they get 400 anti-immigrant letters. That is an unbelievable amount 400 anti to every 1 pro. She said that there aren't that many anit-immigrant people it is just a few that speak very loudly. I thought that was crazy.

It's a shame, but by nature, it's those folks who want to complain, scream, and beat their opinion over peoples heads that are willing to put it on paper and send it to a senator or congressman. I'm an instructor, and every class I send out a voluntary critique form... the only people who take the time to say something on them really, are the ones that are angry or have something negative to say. The ones that have only good things to say, don't fill it out, because they like things the way they are, or they see that change is already in progress. They will however, make the effort, if they really think it will help someone. And look where we are in this country on immigration issues right now, we're waiting, hoping, expecting change.
For those folks that are here - (and I'm not saying this is the right answer or not, it's just a thought that I'm sure might recieve some response) - but those that are here EWI, and want to legalize, why can we not offer them a program where they could serve two years service in the military, contingent on no criminal history in either country and passing a drug test? Give them, then the opportunity to have "amnesty" upon completion of that service? For women, we'd have to come up with something a little different, I guess, but the majority are males here, right? Maybe once they did that, they could then petition for relative if they have wife and kids, and possibly depending on their performance evaluations would give them a quicker route or something through the process of bringing their families or legalizing them. After all... the National Guard is about tapped out... the military needs good hardworking bodies! and it'd give them a chance to prove their loyalty and earn the respect of those letter writing haters you talked about. what do you think?

Agreed. Hatred is more easily expressed than love, sadly. But this won't be for long, I do know that. Some kind of change is expected within the next two years!!!
