Grrr! How long does the average apartment rental application process take? ...from dropping off the application at the rental office to when you actually get to move in ??? It seems like in the past it was a few days to max 2 weeks. I don't know.
It has been really hard to find an apartment around here and the one place that seemed decent has taken FOREVER and I have to call and check up on them, they didn't even call me to say they recieved the app. or that it was approved. They seem shady to me and I'm beyond annoyed.:curse:

I have always heard back the next day when I have applied for an apartment. Never less. I usually move within 2/4 weeks following the approval.

I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I would think again before choosing that apartment complex. I wonder how long it takes them to fix a problem in your apartment...

It depends. With a rental agency or a big professional complex, it should be prompt. If it's a private person, you never know. They might be a procrastinator or they might be holding out for more applicants so they can make a choice. Or, they might not like you and think that if they don't call you back you'll give up and won't pursue it. If you think that they might be discriminating against you because of national origin or something, go talk to someone to see what your rights are.

Sorry. Moving is frustrating. I hope you find a nice place soon.

Oh joy! I don't know it is a realty company and they seem pretty spacey. This is annoying. It is weird because they keep posting the listing and now have reduced the rental price to try and rent the apartments I guess. You would think they would jump at a rental application. The realitor said my app. was fine and then had a little trouble because she couldn't validate my husbands SS # (SS office said it was because it was so new). But she didn't even tell me I had to call her office to see what the status of the app. was. There are other Mexican and American families in the complex so I don't know what the realty companies deal is. It seemed like it would work out because it was close to work and affordable. They haven't even cashed my app. check yet. :bang:

normally they wont call you if they are not intrested in you as a renter, they will call if they are intrested. Rentals get so many applications that it is easier to call the one back that they want and throw out the one they are not.

Grrrr! The place is practically empty! Fine!!! I'll just take my application somewhere else, there is nothing wrong with it. And their apartments are pretty shi**y anyhow. What could they possibly want?
Can I put a stop check on the check I put in with the app.? They haven't done squat!
Just last week I was out looking at the apartments and some where in renovation but not completed. I asked when they would be done and the rental gal told me she didn't know when they would be finished because there is no money right now. She siad "we have to rent out the apts. to get the money to finish them". And now they keep putting off the potential renters.

Thats odd, that they would want renters to pay befor they can even move in, they should have a date that it should be finished and they should have had the money to finish the places without renters, they really cant rent out unfinished places. Are you sure this lady is not scamming people

I don't think it's a scam since it's through a realty company. She was saying that they need renters for the apartments that are ready so that they will have money to finish the rennovation. Weird right? They act like they know nothing about the place. The realty lady said that she will send out her assistant to do a inspection of the apartment to make she it is ready to rent. Shouldn't they know if it's ready and just do a quick clean up if necessary????

Well, if they're this bad with your rental application, imagine how long it would take them to respond if you had a maint. request. They might leave you with a broken water heater for a month or something.

NOw the real estate company calls me this afternoon and said they did an inspection of the apartment and it is ready. BUt now they have to get the cleaning lady in and they are not sure when she can come. So they told me by the end of next week they will give me a call and schedule a time I can sign the rental agreement. Ahhhhh! I'm so close to just telling them what they can do with that rental agreement!

I've been looking for a place for a long time now. Maybe this is a sign ....an omen....maybe we should just pack up and move to Texas:confused1:
With the baby coming along it may be hard to find a job, and I'll have to get new insurance. I'm getting fed up with my job here though too so 6 more months of this may make me crazy.
