My waiver application was approved on 3/24/08 and received the letter on 3/31/08. As of this date the Embassy in Trinidad has not received the file.
I called DOS 3 weeks ago and was told it could take "up to" 30 days for them to receive it but they currently have the case listed as pending. The letter was signed in Mexico. From what I've been able to dig up here is that my fiancee should have had her visa by now (on average). I've been in contact with the Embassy (nice people actually) and they keep telling me they were told by CIS that it was sent.

Any suggestions on what my next course of action may be? Thanks for your guidance.

I, personally, would go ahead and get a senate or house liason on the case. They will be able to get answers much more quickly than you or I.

In fact, it's only been 3 weeks for me--same type of situation--and next Monday I've already decided I will call my Senate Rep back to figure out what is going on.

Thank you. Unfortunately when we're this close to this process being over our patience is almost over as well. I kind of had the feeling that was the direction I would need to go. You have to ask, why at this point, don't they use DHL? Thank you again.

haha jerseyboy. . .you would think that when they figured out that they were so incompetent to transfer things themselves they WOULD use a private service, HOWEVER, in my opinion that would undo many years of perfecting the current state of inactive beaurocracy.

It was explained to me that they actually break down the entire file and have it "couriered" to the embassy or DHS depending on the consulate. . .I have no idea if this is the truth.

"Couriered!!!" It's more like using a donkey across the plains!! The courier probably is making a few "stops" along the way.

If you recall, from NVC to the Embassy was a couple of days WITH a tracking number. We did the K-1 route so even when she has the visa, we are from this being counted as complete.
