Hello my friends..so hubby and I are looking into ANY and EVERY option we can think of. Here's my latest (bear with me:wink:)
Ok..we are seriously considering Canada,at first we thought just go for Mexico, but I saw threads on moving to Canada and It set my wheels in motion.
My husband has worked in construction for over 10 years and is a member of the Carpenters Union. So for the last few weeks we have been reading up on Canada and immigrating there when hubby grabs his latest union Magazine and reads "Want To Work In Canada?"
The more we read, the more interesting this becomes. In Alberta, North of Edmonton there is the oil patch and there is tons of work. They are looking for people experienced in Scaffold and Concrete Form work.Exactly what hubby does... There are already many members from the US union already there working, So Monday he is going to talk to his union Rep and see what's up with that. They have contracts for up to 2 years,so it could be a start for us!?
My question is..since we would be looking to do this just to pass the 10 year ban, would we need to first have the ban officially be documented in some way? I am sure hubby would need to go through Mexico to apply for a visa for Canada right? I am just hoping for something you know?...some direction..hope you all have had a good weekend :) thanks for reading

I'm going to kick back up a thread on Canada that I had started. I'd wanted to post a new link to an article but I couldn't find the thread so now that I found it I must find the article.
I think y14gemini said that the office she called said that if a waiver is needed for Mexico then that had to be approved first.
I'm not understanding clearly but I take it that you're saying you're husband is definitely banned for ten years? No waiver?
Has he called his Union Hall to ask about this because Canada might have a law against somebody that has been banned from the U.S. Remember Elvira Arellano, the activist? They wouldn't let her in on Visa because according to a law of the U.S. and Canada (together) she was considered a risk that she wouldn't leave.
I'd contact the Union Hall. They'd have to know the laws on this since they also deal with Unions out of Canada.
I hope this will work for you. Keeping fingers crossed!

Thanks nineten,I read the post you are talking about..the one you posted about the firm in Arizona that help those looking to relocate to Canada..the one in the article was here illegally?!. Found a lot of info, was very helpful.
Yes the whole reason for even looking into Canada is because my husband won't qualify to file the waiver..because of a 2nd EWI after 2 years of unlawful presence.
So I hope were on to something...thanks

I've been about two hours outside of Toronto at Bernie and it was cold but it's a dry cold and no moisture in the air unlike the cold in the U.S. southern states.

Hi guys, yes I called the number for Canadian Consultants (I can't spell it in Spanish), the company that is based out of either Phoenix ot Texas. My experience (now remember this is just MY personal experience) is this lady had no idea what she was talking about. The reason I say this is because she (the lady from the consulting firm) informed me that my husband needed to wait until the waiver is approved before he can go to Canada. I asked her why is that because my husbands issue is with the US not Canada. And if the waiver is approved we will be staying in the US. She also told me that they (employees) are looking for help in the hospitality industry only! I am not saying she didn't know what she was talking about but alot that she was telling me did not add up.
I however, did speak with a Phil Mooney. We have been emailing back and forth and he has been a TREMENDOUS help. I recommend if you have questions to contact him. There is no obligation! His contact info is: pm1@bellnet.ca or 1-905-633-9302 in Canada or 1-888-288-0801 in North America.
Good Luck!

Cflores, your husband needs to have no criminal record and no deportation on his record, but otherwise Canada is very accepting of immigrants.
We thought we had a job connection for Elias, he had been hearing about an agency hiring people to go... He called the other day and they told him that he is not poor enough:dizzy: They only want to hire the poorest people, he said basically the indigenous people...
They did say they might be able to find him work in Spain! But I don't know that I want him FURTHER away!!
Anyway, I'm babbling. I hope you guys can figure this out! It would be so great...

A friend of mine has been in touch with that agency and they told him that there is a strong possibility of him going. He's supposed to be making a resume right now. He's a tradesman. I'll touch base tomorrow with him and see what's up with this. He's in the U.S. right now illegally. He'd had a Visa once before, ten years ago, and it got cancelled when he returned to the states from Canada. He's all gung-ho for this. He'd just return to Mexico and do it from there I guess. He's determined to keep working because he knows the crackdowns are becoming more frequent and harder to get into various jobs.
I have a strong feeling that there are certainly going to be jobs there in geographical locations and the environments that I think are going to be very demanding. I heard a couple of weeks ago about a guy in the same field as my friend getting killed. I hope they aren't placing the people in areas that are lacking in safety.
@Dorothea I don't think Spain is as immigrant friendly as it had been. There's been a lot of articles out about needing changes there. (That could've been regarding too many immigrants from a particular country, can't recall exactly.) If I can find any old ones I'll send them to you. But that might be an option anyway.

Right, we'll just leave it to the professionals then, shall we?

If you want to officially start the clock on the ban, once you leave the US go to a POE and ask for an I-94- it's an entrance. exit document and will basically state that you were in a certain spot at a certain time/ date.
I hope this works out for you.
Good luck!
