how many orginal copies of husbands birth certificate do I need?

Hubby talked to me suegra today and she's getting his birth certificate and sending it to us. How many copies of the Original should she get? We've only send in I 130 thus far.

I would get a few, you will need one for the DS-230, and I have heard you should always have one on hand for when you go the interview. I would get 3, maybe 4 if you want one for your own files. If possible get them in English.

It probably won't be possible to get them issued in English since they are issued in Mexico.

We needed one for his passport (the consulate kept it), one for the interview, again, they kept it, one for the AOS packet we sent and one for the AOS interview (we did K-3.) So that was 4 that we gave away and you really need to keep at least one for yourself. They also lost our AOS packet so we had to re-submit, but to be safe, I'd get at least 5. I know that sounds crazy, but we have gone through so many....

We also used photocopies for the I-130, the I-129f, the DS-157 (the bio data version of the DS-230 that is used for the K-3), and more things that I can no longer remember.

i had my suegra get 4, plus we have his original original one too...just to be on the safe side.

a side note: she sent them through some kind of mexican express mail and no joke, they got to maryland in like 4 days. it was nuts.

We have 4 because we want to make sure that we have enough for the whole process and you never know if they will loose it like Adriane said. My MIL mailed us from Acapulco to California in two days from FedEx. I think it was cheap too!

Ahhh, I'm sorry to hear that, I know I told my hubby to get five and he also yelled at me. But we only got 4.

I only have one copy of my birth certificate, can't I just make certified copies of it here in the U.S. I don't know how I would be able to obtain any other copies of it, most of my family is here in the US and the only people left in Mexico live in border towns, pretty far from where I was born.

you can't "make" them, it's not the same as going to a notary and getting it photocopied and stamped. an original copy has to come from the registro. where were you born? maybe someone on here has family close by since they don't seem to care in many places who requests them?

OR, you could use actaexpress. tasks did, and it was expensive, but she got what she needed.

I was born in CD. Obregon, Sonora. We actually live in Tucson Az about six hours away, and nogales sonora is about 1 hr. away. Can I just send my husband across the border and get them in nogales or does he have to go to CD. Obregon??? I was thinking of getting my mexican passport this week, now I'm not sure, cuz they might take the only copy I have.

Yeah I used acta it WAS expensive but it was pretty fast and I was impressed.. I know some others have had issues with it though but since you already have 2 you aren't really in a rush you could order now so they are ready for the other stuff down the line .. I ordered 4 also..

We ordered five. My BIL sent them via DHL and we got them in 1.5 days. I now became a loyal fan of DHL. They were sent from southern Mexico, too. We even had two of the five birth certificates apostille (sp?) just because hubby wanted it for good measure and just in case.
