I just can't believe we have grown this much. When I first came to this forum there wasn't anyone else going through Honduras but me. But even at that everyone else from the othere countries were all very nice and helpful. It is so great that there are so many of us to help each other out. :go::grpwave:
Me. I can't wait to go back to Honduras again and get my step-son. I can't wait to see that look on his face when he gets his first glimps of the United States.:gathering:

thernand - all I'll need from my step-daughter's mother is a letter of consent that's notarized when we actually go to board the plane to come to US?? I assume I have to go and pick her up, not my hubby, since I'm the one filing for her

My step-son is 10. He will be 11 next month.
jeialeigh:
We had to have his mothers signature and my husbands signature on a paper saying that his sister had permission to take him to get his passport. But nothing for the immigration office.
We did not need her signature on any of the paperwork for immigration at all.
I don't know if it matters who they fly out of the country with. However, I am going not my husband (he is afraid they won't let him leave again even though he is a per. resident of the US now, he doesn't trust them) but I will have to have signed noterized papers from his mother and his dad (my husband) before they will allow me to board the plane with him. This paper is for the airline. Nothing to do with immigration at all.

Is there anywhere online where I can pull an application for passport info for Honduras?
I am soooo nervous about sending in this last form.. I know a lot of you are in the same situation and can imagine how i feel. I almost feel like I've been in denial about this whole thing until now, when the prospect of being w/out hubby has finally hit home!:(

jeialeigh - I totally understand how you're feeling. We just sent off the last stuff to the NVC last week and I knowing that the next step is the appointment is really scary, but I just remind myself of how different life will be once he's back and how everything will be worth it. Remember we're all in this together and you are not alone. I'm so grateful that I've found this community that has helped me in more ways than one. Everything will be ok for all of us!

I haven't ever been able to find an application for a Honduran Passport on line. We just had to have Polo's sister go to the passport office and find out what we had to have. They did the application there. I have never seed one. I'll keep looking though.
Keep your chin up. All will be okay.

WOW!:yay:
I think we should have our own subheading under I-601:D
I would also be interested about residency in Honduras as I plan to go with Mr LSM when he has to go. I am lucky my son lives with us & will maintain my house while I am gone (or at least I hope it is still standing, LOL) We are already trying to plan financially for the tough road ahead.

Up next, rental cars or freighting one of ours (cost benefit analysis). Cars 10 yrs or less old can be imported, correct??

Yeah the rates for Spirit are awesome going to SAP but for me you get in so late (like 12 midnight and according to my departure city)....
Cars can be no OLDER than 5 years, so that means a 2003 or newer! So when 2009 comes the year would be 2004 or newer and so on! I think that is soooo funny because when you get over there all the cars (well most of them) are pieces of crap!

Okay this is what I found on another thread from carlosalica...(http://www.immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?p=160683)
First, just to clarify, a cosponsor is a sponsor who already lives with you, and they only fill out the I864A. A joint sponsor is someone who along with the petitioner will sponsor the immigrant. If you need one of these they need to fill out the I864 form and mark, joint sponsor. If you find someone to help you, you will need their taxes from the last three years, a birth certificate (just a copy to send, but I think you MAY need the original at the interview, we never needed it, but I know someone else who did, the joint sponsor will also have to fill out the form and sign it. I think that is about it.
Just from my experience I found the I864 to be the most scary form to fill out. At first I was like man how am I going to do this, but after I was done, it really wasn't that bad. What really helped me was to read through the instructions with a highlighter, highlight anything that pertains to you, or anything that you will need to include. That way you won't have to read the whole instructions four thousand times just to make sure you included everything. Gather everything than put it in the order they have. It's really not that bad! Oh and of course come here if you have any questions!
Good Luck! I was also a stay at home mom so we used a sponsor and everything went great for us!!

Thanks for the info on the cars... We were under the assumption that it was 10yrs. I guess I need to look about rental cars so we can move freely between SPS, La Ceiba, and TGG. I think my arrival time was late evening, but my return flight left at like 1am. That sucks, but when ur traveling w/ a little one, its easier if they sleep most of the way on the airplane! So, for me, it's a bonus:blush:
Great info on the cosponsor/joint sponsor. I felt the same way when filling out the I864, very scary at first. But, I read through the instructions and highlighted so I was sure I knew exactly what each question asked. It was more difficult for me to fill out the past employers section of the DS230. My hubby had no records for all the places he's worked, so I had to go back through all his old W2s, 1099, etc. to get the names/addresses of places he's worked. And we still missed a few where there weren't any paper trails.

Thernad - So is you're husband never going to return to Honduras to visit? Mine can't wait to go back to see his family, and then be able to come back here when the vacation is over. I think I will be more nervous than he that we'll have some kind of trouble getting back.

I have a daughter who'll be 3 in August, which is right around the time we expect hubby to be getting his appt. She's been a bit depressed and clingy follow her grandfather's death and she has begun to have HUGE TANTRUMS when someone leaves her (note - only everyone but me!). Hubby went to the store on Fri. night and was gone about 20 minutes. She knew he was going, but she still SCREAMED, KICKED, etc. the entire time he was gone. She was inconsolable :( The same thing happened yesterday when her aunt left our house following a visit. She screamed and took off running down the driveway after the car.
How have you ladies (or gentlemen) approached the topic of Daddy/Mommy leaving?? I need some help here. She already knows we're going to Honduras to see abuela and her hermana. BUT, we haven't really discussed that daddy's gonna stay there and we'll be coming back.

jeialeigh - I don't have any children, so thank God I won't have to go through that issue, but just reading your situation made me cry. I don't have any advice for you, but just know that everything will be ok. Maybe by then she'll stop having these tantrums when someone leaves. I know it's going to be heartbreaking, but just remember that it'll be worth it in the end. :)

I'm kinda freaking out because me and my husband have been having the same dreams.....That we leave the airport to come home and when he is here we are talking and he keeps asking me, Morena is this a dream? Am I really here? And I tell him, No you aren't dreaming you are home! Then at at that moment we wake up. It is weird! I hope everything will fall into place! HIIIIIIIIIII LADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow I can't believe this site is not BLOCKED right now! I am at work, and usually I cannot get on blogs or discussion boards. I just checked for the heck of it, and by the grace of God I can say hi to everyone! Have we gotten any more approvals since I have been on last?? I pray for all of you every day!
SUPPOSEDLY we are getting internet at our house by the end of this month. I can't WAIT!!! :D I haven't been able to talk lately because of the website filter thingy at work. I LOVE YOU!! WOOO-HOOOO! I can't believe we posted so much we had to have another thread!
MAYBE we could have our very OWN "Honduras I-601" subforum... wink-wink, nudge-nudge to the mods! ;)
Update on me... as you know, Isai is back in Honduras and is doing great. Of course he is a little aprehensive sometimes, but most days he is very positive. He complains every day about how HOT it is, and it has become a little joke between us now. I can't wait to go SEE him, but I have to wait until our appointment, because I think that is the only time I will be able to afford to visit. I am saving my tax refund money for the trip because it's very expensive to fly from Kansas City to Honduras. This I-130 should be approved in about a month or so! YAY! :D

Hey Everyone,
I'm super tired but want to try to give you some of the details about our process while we were there. The plane trip and airports were pretty uneventful other than a boarding agent asking for my husband's visa in Houston. We flew all night from LAX and sat in the Houston airport for 3 hours so I was in no mood and basically told her not to worry about it since he was getting on a plane back to Honduras. She let us go and off we went.
We still needed to get another original copy of his police certificate and birth certificate (I sent our original originals off the NVC for the CR-1) so as soon as we got off the plane we asked his mom if she had requested them. She said the police told her that they wouldn't be able to give him a copy until the following Tues. Our appt. was Monday so that wasn't going to work. So my husband went to DGIC within an hour of us getting off the plane with a copy of his appt. letter saying he needed the paper by Friday. He paid a little extra money and they said they would have it ready. His sister had a copy of his birth certificate so I thought all was well with that.
Next day, we went to the doctor - Dr. Del Carmen at Centro Medico. I do not recommend. His secretary is kind of b*tch and we waited around for hours and hours. Also, my husband had a tear on one of the pages of his passport (due to a little canoe incident we had last year, but that's another story!) and the secretary told him that the embassy wouldn't take it like that and made us go get another one. We were kind of mad at the time but, ultimately, she was right so it was better to just go get it done. Surprisingly, getting a new passport was about the most efficient process we went through. Took about an hour from the time we walked in the door to the time we left. It was super easy. Can't remember how much it cost, but it wasn't exhorbitant.
Anyway, we went back to the doctor. Let me back up. We first went to the centro medico at like 7:30am, took a number for Dr. Del Carmen (#1, btw), paid for the blood test, got the blood drawn, paid for the x-rays, got the x-rays and then waited about two hours for the secretary to show up. She came around 10:30am, took her sweet time getting all set up in front of everyone and then told my husband to go get the new passport. We got back there with the new passport around 1pm and she was gone, supposed to come back at 2pm. She showed up around 2:30pm, ate some lunch, watched some TV and then started putting paperwork together. She then took my husband into an office and someone else gave him some shots. They said the dr. would be in around 3pm. He showed up closer to 5pm, saw my husband first, asked him about his health history, sexual history, and drug use, etc. Did a very brief exam - listened to his heart and lungs, checked his body, told us he looked great and gave us a sealed envelope to take to the embassy.
On Friday, we went to DGIC to pick up his police record and they wouldn't let me go in but they let me sit on a little bench in the entry while my husband and a few other people went up. Everyone else came down after a few minutes and I was waiting and waiting and waiting. Finally, he calls for me to come upstairs and told me that there was someone else with his exact same name who was wanted for robbery or something. In other words, they hadn't done the paper. I guess they asked him a bunch of questions and realized it wasn't him but then we had to convince them to type up the certificate and give it to us right then. It took a little time but we finally got it and had everything we needed.
On appointment day, we got up and took a taxi down to the embassy at like 6am. I remember reading that one of you said it doesn't really matter what time you show up as long as you're there by 7:30am because they cal you in whatever order they hae you in already but he wanted to get there early. There was a lot of confusion about what line was for what but we finally got in and they took all cell phones, liquids, food and metal objects at the door. Once we were inside we sat in this little area for people applying for "residencia" visas. There were four windows and an announcement came on saying that you'd be called to one of the windows where they would check your paperwork and send you to the cashier. You would then waitm possibly for several hours depending on how many people were ahead of you, to be called into room 5 for your interview. One of the things I noticed was that among the people who were there with Americans, they seemed to be very uninformed. One lady who said she had used a lawyer, tried to file her waiver a year ago - before the interview - and was upset that they hadn't cashed the check and now the fees had gone up. I tried to explain to her that you can't file a waiver request until you've been denied which they don't do until the interview and that the notice about the fees came out a long time ago AND they don't even take checks. She was just pissed though and actually yelled at the lady at the window during the paperwork check. Probably not a good idea, imo.
We were called up to the window at around 10am. The lady took our visa paperwork and asked my husband how we met. He told her our little story and she took notes and asked a few questions to clarify. She asked if either of us had been married before, if we had kids with anyone else, or any together. She wrote down that I was there with him and that I was six months pregnant. She asked when he entered the country and if he had ever entered before or left and re-entered since. Then she told him that he would need a waiver and I gave her the paperwork for that. She seemed surprised that I had it with me and when I gave it to her she asked if a lawyer prepared it for us and I said no. She then gave me a copy of the G-325A biographic info page and said I needed to fill out another one for him. I told her I had sent one in with the petition but she said she needed another one and if I didn't turn it in that day it would cause a delay in sending the file to DHS. Then she gave us the bill - $131 for the processing (it said $100 in the paperwork they sent me) and $545 for the waiver. They didn't make us pay for fingerprints. I included a copy of the fingerprints and results that we sent to the FBI so maybe that's why but I don't know. We paid the cashier (you can pay in dollars or lempiras but it must be cash and the exchange rate is higher than the banks so definitely take dollars) and then gave the lady at the window the receipts and waited for our interview.
They called us around 1pm. We went in and the guy asked me when we were married. He also asked us about previous marriages and kids. He had my husband do the electronic fingerprints and take an oath saying everything on his application was true. Then he said that our package looked good and had everything except the right birth certificate form which they would need before they could pass our file along to DHS. I was surprised because the one we had looked like the example but he said it was different and I wasn't about to argue. I asked about the G-325 that the lady gave us and he looked through our file and found the copy I sent in and said we didn't need another one. I asked him once we got the birth certificate to them how long it would be. He gave me the standard 6-8 months. And then, because I promised my husband that I would ask for a miracle, I asked if there was any chance at all that he could come home before the baby comes. The man asked how far along I was and I said six months and he said no, the best we could hope for was Oct or Nov. And now we wait.
My husband went and got the birth certificate and dropped it at the embassy today so, hopefully, they will send it off to DHS asap. How do you check on that anyway?
I'll tell you all more about the actual trip later - I really need to get to sleep. Hope all is well with everyone!

Hello again,
Wanted to share some of my thoughts about Honduras - the parts that I visited anyway. My first impressions were how dirty it is - the smell of smoke really overwhelmed me when I stepped off the plane. I've traveled a lot but I've never been to a third world country and I guess I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was. I was just really surprised by all the trash and the pollution in the air. Doesn't help that I'm pregnant and just feeling super sensitive and vulnerable, I guess.
Anyway, my husband's family is fantastic. We all went to his aunt's home for a big welcome lunch. It was such a joy to meet them all - and by all I mean LOTS!! It took me several days to get them all straight! They were so sweet to me and patient with my very mediocre Spanish. They were constantly trying to feed me and I finally had to tell my husband that if I wanted something I would eat but I couldn't just keep eating and eating everywhere we went - I was getting heartburn pretty badly! We spent most of our time in Tegus, in an area called Comayaguela, which the embassy notes specifically that Americans should avoid. By western standards I suppose it would be called a slum but it was just a very poor area filled with normal people who work hard every day. I got to be very comfortable and by the end didn't even mind everyone staring at me as I sat at his aunt's vegetable stand. (I'm blonde, blue-eyed, very fair skinned so I was a full-on curiousity - little kids would just stand and stare at me. It was pretty funny.)
For the weekend we went down to his mom's in Pespire. She lives way at the top of a mountain on a road that you absolutely need a four-wheel drive to get through - we actually had to drive through a river at one point. There are a bunch of little adobe-type houses in the village and everyone has cows and horses and chickens. My husband's family has lived there for generations and everyone was so happy to see him and to see his pregnant wife. He was really proud to bring me home. It was so sweet I can hardly think about it without crying. I just kept thinking what miracle from God brought this man from the top of this mountain all the way to me? The world is a wonderful place when you open your arms to it.
We also went to Playa Negra on Amapala Island. That was a really fun day. We went swimming and played around, ate freshly caught fried fish. Really a great time. Everyone kept telling me that the north was more beautiful and when I come back we'll go there. The south was definitely very dry and not as lush as I thought it would be and I was also surprised that the air pollution (from smoke) was still so thick even down at the beach. But I guess with the whole country burning wood and virtually no environmental controls, what can you expect?
After our appointment, we were both so happy and relieved we didn't feel sad at all. My husband kept telling me "don't be sad, I'm with my family and you have part of me inside you and the time will pass very quickly." He's such a wonderful, positive person. At the airport, of course, we cried and cried. His mom, aunt, uncle and some cousins came to drop me off and everyone was crying. It was really heart-wrenching. I finally stopped crying long enough to get through their little security check point but then as I was walking around the corner through the duty-free shop I just lost it. The clerks saw this bawling pregnant woman over by the perfumes and came over to ask if I was okay. I couldn't even speak so they took me over the chairs and I finally calmed down. It was kind of a ridiculous scene and I was more than a little embarrassed but there was just nothing I could do. It just hit me all it once that I was going to have to get on the plane without him. Luckily, the plane was pretty empty so I had my row to myself and could just cry in peace all the way to Houston.
So, I'm mostly okay now and I do feel good and confident about our waiver packet. I just have total faith that he will be home soon. And I am so grateful for all of you for sharing your experiences. It helped me more than I will ever be able to express. Finding this website and the community of our group has been a true blessing. Now let's get some more approvals!!!

Yes, Klame1983, thank you for sharing such a beautiful song. I understood about 90%. I've been wanting to buy another spanish artist's christian CD, so I'll have to check out his other songs (the only one I have right now is Jesus Adrian Romero). I've heard 'Levanto mis manos' in church and now I have an artist that matches it. Thanks!

wanaads: It sounds like you had a wonderful time in Honduras. I know exactly what you mean about the airport and the food. Just think there will be a day this year where you won't worry about that kind of sadness again. Did everyone like your gifts? ---I sent an email ( TGGCONSIVAPP@state.gov ) to the embassy inquiring about the status of my packet and they told me it had been forwarded to DHS. They provided me with the phone number and email address to DHS. I sent an email to DHS to confirm receipt and they replied with the date of receipt and approx. decision month ((504) 238-5114 ext 4500 or by email at uscistgu.inquiries@dhs.gov). As far as the medical, my fiancé went to the woman on the list and he said she was nice.

Well I finally got a response from the embassy and I guess it is talking 6 months to process waivers...Here is what they replied to me:
Dear Ms. XXX:
Thank you for approaching us regarding your husband’s waiver of grounds of inadmissibility. Your husband’s case was received by this office January 25, 2008. We are currently working with cases received in November 2007, therefore, our current processing time is of approximately six months.
Please be assured that we will contact you as soon as a decision is made in your husband’s case.
I hope that this information is of help.
Sincerely,
aguafria

Thanks for sharing your story. I am crying with you! I pray the times passes quickly & you will be with hubby soon.
y14gemini,
Glad you got a response.
I've been busy trying to finish this porch. Mr LSM's b-day was yesterday & with Mother's Day tomorrow (Honduras) we will have a joint celebration at my house. (& probably going out to the club afterwards I found out from my cunado today) I am up late painting doors and caulking to get ready to paint early in the morning. A few friends are coming over to help him finish the interior so I doubt I get to paint that before company shows up. Did I mention I have a child's b-day party at Chuck E Cheese at 10 am & then MIL is coming over for us to make tamales afterwards?
back to work...

rkzal - I LOVE Alex Campos! I actually met him in Monterrey once. I was at a seminar for youth (about 5 yrs ago) and I spotted him in the crowd. I slowly made my way to him (no one else recognized him) and I stood next to him and was like "Hola Alex"... he was so shocked and I took a pic with him and got his autograph. After that everyone started making a huge comotion. It was a very interesting day! He's so cute btw.

Wanaads - I loved reading your posts about your experiences in Honduras. They are almost identical to mine. My hubby is also from that part of Tegus, more specifically Modesta Rodas, near Tiluarque. Were you near those colonias at all?
Reading your post was like reliving that whole experience! I remember needing the support of everyone after I came back from our interview. I was searching for a long time because that was when this website was not working. So I was thrilled when it was finally up again and I got so many responses to my post about the waiver in Honduras. I don't know how I would have gotten through it without everyone here. As sympathetic as my friends and family tried to be, nobody REALLY understood what I was going through, except everyone here.
I might not have realized it at the time while I was breathing in their smog or taking cold showers, but it really has been a blessing to know Honduras. Outside of the city it is really a beautiful country. And actually having family in a country brings so much more significance to the experience, rather than just a vacation, it's getting to know a huge part of your husband. I have a lot of fond memories of my 3 visits to Honduras and can't wait to go back again.
It's so great to see so many of you getting approved and getting close to a decision. I hope our 100% approval rate continues!

Catrachowife-It is truly a blessing to have the support of the people on this site. Thanks so much for the warm welcome home everyone! While I'm definitely glad to back, I'm findng myself missing the simplicity of Honduras. My husband's mom's house was so peaceful and relaxed. Going straight back to work was good in terms of keeping me too busy to mope around but I've been so exhausted ever since I got back - I haven't even unpacked yet!
Me and my hubby are doing okay. We've been talking everyday which helps. I haven't heard from the embassy yet about whether they forwarded our packet on DHS (thanks for the contact info, aguafria!) but I know we're going to be fine no matter what. It helps me so much to have met his family and to know what wonderful people he is with, I feel like I don't have to worry about him at all.
Have any of you traveled there with an infant? I really want to go visit during my maternity leave because I think it's crazy for me to just be sitting home doing nothing when I could be sitting home doing nothing WITH my husband in Honduras, but I just don't know how soon it would be safe to travel with the baby. Any thoughts to share?

Our little girl was 5 weeks when we had to leave for his interview, but we left her at home with my Mom. I was nervous to take her before she had any of her vaccinations. Plus, I didn't think I could get her passport fast enough. But I did take her when she was 3 months to visit her Daddy and her pediatrician said it should be fine. Just be careful of the mosquitoes just in case.
Just so you are prepared, you don't have to buy the baby a seat on the plane until they are 2 years if you want them on your lap, but you do still need to pay some taxes and fees, which come up to like $200 or $250.
rzkal, I'm so happy for you that you get to go soon. Have a great trip! Tell him we said hi.

Wanaads-I traveled when my babies were 3 and 4 months old. I want to go during my maternity leave too. I might have to go up to DC to get the passport so I don't have to wait for the mail. I have to call the passport agency to see what my hubby has to send for the passport. Everytime I get one the rules change. I think it would be great if we could get everything together on time to get the passport or we will wait until Christmas to visit. My hubby used to tell me that the baby should be a couple of months old before flying, I guess I better run my plan past him first!!!:)
This time Continental only charged me $70 for the baby. They say it is 10% of your ticket price plus taxes. It is usually more.

I have to call the passport agency to see what my hubby has to send for the passport.
Well unless the rules have changed again, I filled out the passport application and my husband signed and notorized the DS-3053 (The statement if consent: Issuance for a minor child). Along with a copy of his passport.

I called the NVC and they issued an RFE. I thought our case was going to be complete, but NO... they say they're missing the long-form birth certificate and police certificate. We sent both of those things!!! What are they thinking?!?!?! We even had to pay $100 to get the stupid police certificate over here. I tried contacting my attorney, but he didn't answer. What is going on!!! I'm so mad right now.... ok, I need to be calm, but I just can't! Take a deep breath. :(

Just wanted to say hello and hope everyone is doing well.
Just a bit of an update. My daughter has THE WORST LUCK with the mail. After waiting month to get the I-130 sent to NVC it finally got there. Then we waited 14 days from the date it was mailed until it got to her lawyer. The day I sent a note to the NVC to find out how to get a new packet because the lawyer had not received it and she was no longer with the lawyer it arrived at the lawyer's office.
That very same day I got an email from the NVC saying they took the lawyer off the case my daughter got the lawyer back. The NVC has never worked that fast before! So now she is back with the lawyer, the lawyer says that new forms do not need to be sent. I do not know if I need to stop emailing the NVC now because she has a lawyer as her AOC. (I think that is right.)
Anyway, the lawyer asked her to send the money and a copy of her taxes so that the lawyer would complete the packet info. She sent it certified mail. We keep calling the lawyer and she has not received the checks and tax form!!!! The post office checked and on April 28 it had reached the Chicago mail office or whatever it is called. The lawyer has still not received it.
Good thing is that the checks have not been cashed. The bad thing is that if it disappeared at the Chicago mail office all of her information is in the tax form.
We continue to have one delay after another and he sits in El Progreso waiting.
Any suggestions, words of encouragement?:shy:
I do not know what faiths you are but here is a good book: But Lord, I Was Happy Shallow by Marita Littauer. It is a collection of "lessons learned in the deep places." An easy read, read all the stories or be selective. It can make you cry in some places.

Klame--I know how you feel. it is like you have to talk to them right NOW and you are the only person that matters! :) Don't worry I am the same way, I am important and everyone else must wait! :D But I am sure the lawyer will call you back soon and it will get straightened out.
SIL--Wow, what a mess. i would think that if the lawyer has the paperwork from the NVC with his/her info on it then it should be okay to use those forms. You might want to email them one more time to let them know that you are going to continue to use their services. If the checks haven't been cashed, I would do a stop payment on them and send new ones. I know, I know it is more money and a pain in the butt. But that is the only way to get the papers moving again! Stay positive!
Well as for me, our addendum was finally completed and mailed out today! My fingers are still crossed!!

Klame - the exact same thing happened to me with the birth certificate. I KNOW it was the right one but they asked for something different. In fact, you did the translation on that weird paragraph one that we got and they took that one even though it was definitely NOT the forma literal. Sometimes I think it just depends on the mood of the person who is looking at your papers that day. Hang in there!! Once I sent the new papers in, it didn't take long at all for them to complete.
SIL - I'm so sorry about all the delays and setbacks your family has had to deal with - yours is just the craziest case! I can't even believe all that you guys have been through. Maybe you should start sending everything FedEx, signature required! :erm: (Only half-joking!!)
As for us, I got an email from DHS this morning (less than an hour after I emailed them - not bad!) saying that they received our I-601 today and "Our processing time for waiver applications is six to seven months, therefore, we expect to render a decision on his case by November or December 2008." I'll take that over 6-8 months!!! :D
Hope everyone's doing well!

This was on the embassy's home page. I think this is the same thing that wanaads did a couple months ago:
Webchat with Ambassador Charles A. Ford: Opportunities and Challenges of Creating a Society of Hope in Honduras
On May 16, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., join U.S. Ambassador to Honduras Charles A. Ford for an online discussion in which he will highlight issues of mutual concern to the U.S. and Honduras. Topics available for discussion will include security, economic growth, social justice, and immigration, among others. Ambassador Ford will answer your questions live online in English and Spanish.

Call me to let me know if this is ok... my husband would take a bus to La Ceiba to pick up the clothes.

Hello everybody my name is Ana and I am also going through all this process of the I-130 and the waiver. This is my story:
My Husband is from Honduras, specifically from Correderos, a small town located in Departamento Santa Barbara. He entered the USA illegally in 2001. As you can read in my timeline, we get married in 2005. I did not file the I-130 immediately becuase somebody told me that I had to wait 2 years after marriage in order to be able to file it. (BIG LIE) My husband was arrested by immigration in 2001, but he paid a fine and was told to wait for an appointment to see the judge. Unfortunately, he lost all the papers and did not attend the appointment with the judge.
We hired a lawyer to help us through all this process. He told us that probably my husband has a deportation pending because he did not attend the appointment with the judge. We asked for his fingerprints to FBI and they did not find any record of him in the USA. (I think that is good). Our lawyer told us to be prepared to file the I-601 and also I-212?, I think is the I-212 for a deportation. He told us tha my husband had 65% probabilities of getting his residence. Also he told us that it would take between 6-18 months to get his waiver approved. I have a friend and he was approved within 7 months after he turned in his waiver.
I sent I-130 on Sept. 2007, but on NOA-1 it says they received on Nov 7, 2007. Now on the website it says that they received on January 2008. Do you know how long will it take in order for them to approve it?
I read all your posts and I feel all of you are a big family, I hope you can accept me as part of your big family. Thank you for your time.

 and :welcome: Analilia! Of course we will accept you into our family! :) Does your husband know his A#? If so, there is a number that you can call and input the A# in and it will tell you if there is anything on that number. I can try to find it for you (don't worry it is an automated system).
I do not know what to say if he has an order of deportation out for him, other than to be careful. If he can fly under the radar until you get your appointment I would say that is good. If I am not mistaken (and someone will jump in if I am wrong) if he has not officially been removed (deported) then you will NOT need a I-212 when he goes for the IV interview in Tegus, just the I-601. Currently it is taking 6-7 months to get a decision on the 601's.
If you have any other questions, please ask us and Good Luck!

Okay.... I have a lot to catch up on. I've been very busy at work the last week or so and my daughter just had surgery the first week of May. So, here goes.
Y14 - great pics!! You two are a beautiful pareja! I've got my fingers crossed for June for you!!
Corazoncita - It's always nice to hear from you. I'm glad you're getting your internet connected. I don't know what I'd do without mine!!
Bienvenidos Ana... welcome to our little family! I would agree with y14 that if hubby can avoid deportation until the appt in TGG, then he'd only need to file 601 waiver. I think about 6 mos is the standard wait time for an approval of the I-130. You mentioned a date of Jan 2008 was when they 'received' it?? So, you should be getting work back very soon. BUT, the I130 is the first (and in my opinion) the easiest step in this whole process.
Sidenote - when did we get our own subforum??? Hello, i haven't checked in for a few days and all of a sudden our Imm2us home has moved!! Exciting!!

Hi Everyone, I've been so busy at work - I've been reading but haven't had much chance to post. So exciting to see our new subforum!!
Welcome Analillia! I'm always so happy to see new people because there's so much great information here and such great support. It means one more family will be helped through this process and that's a true blessing. I thank God every day that I found I2US, I really do.
y14gemini - GORGEOUS!! You're stunning! Love the pic of you and your husband (who will hopefully be home very soon!). And the one's with your girls are so sweet, too!
Corazoncita - congrats on getting the internet at home! Makes you feel connected to the world again, doesn't it?
Andreh - I was just looking at your baby ticker - you're almost there!! So exciting! How are you holding up? I had a childbirth class yesterday and am getting so excited but I still have almost three months to go - I'm so impatient to meet my little one.
y14gemini
05-19-2008, 08:31 PM
Hmm, maybe he is not in the system? :confused1: When you enter it are you entering the correct amount of numbers? I know for my husband, his A# has a 0 in the front and it has to be dropped. :dunno: OR did he get another A#? My husband has 2, once for the first time he was here (back in 88) and then when started the process in 01 they gave him another one.
Analilia--another option you can try is the FOIA. If you are just starting the process, you should have enough time to do the FOIA request.

OK-- for the record, I LOVE Isabella, and we considered naming Emery-Grace that. However, we were naming her after 2 people, and I couldn't figure out how to fit Grace and Maria with Isabella. We went with Emery-Grace Maria, and I am very happy with that! I also adore Gabriela... so beautiful! I love to talk names, so I will throw a few out there when I'm not so tired. I love Nadia & Delaney, but hubby did NOT agree... *sigh* If we have a boy next, it's already decided his name will be Mateo Isaiah. The only thing that sucks is that his name will be Mateo Santos-- just like Mark Consuelos' character on All My Children. But whatever! I have loved the name, Mateo, since I was 15 years old. Who knew I would marry a Latino guy and actually get an excuse to use the name?!? Hubby is in love with it, too! YAY! (At one point, he actually wanted to name our first son Beckham Isaiah... what a futbol freak my hubby is!)
y14gemini-- I can finally see your pics!!! You are gorgeous, and your hubby is so handsome! What a beautiful couple... you guys look PERFECT together!
rkzal-- OMGOMGOMG! You are probably going to be there when the package gets there! I am so happy that Isai will get to meet you... I also wanted to tell you that I deleted some stuff out of my inbox. rkzal... hubby and I were planning on taking boxes down with us on the airplane and paying the charges there. However, now that I understand there may be a reliable way to ship to La Ceiba, we may use DIP shipping and send it freight. I'd like to do some sort of cost comparisson between the two. Could you pm with the contact info for your friend in La Ceiba where I could ship?? If that's alright, that is. We have several boxes full of miscellaneous items that we'll distribute among family then sell the rest. This is typically what we do every 6 mos or so. It's a nice present for the family and a nice way for my suegra to earn a little extra income.
For those of you that have been down recently, what are some items you think would be good to sell?? His mom has told me soap/shampoo/perfume from here. Anything else you all might recommend??

I remember when I was small in Honduras people would talk and say this is ropa americana.

My fingers are crossed.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PHOTO!
Well, Chicago finally found the letter, but not until another $60.00 was spent canceling checks and sending everything Fed EX. The lawyer got it the next morning and said it would be in the mail that afternoon. We just seem to lose so much time.
My daughter's work place is slow and they will have almost a month shut down, along with her vacation added to that she wants to go see her husband. She is looking for flights to Honduras and saw some prices on Sprint. Has anyone ever flown that airline? She is headed to El Progresso, is anyone going to be near there? Please let me know ASAP she plans to book soon. Do most of you fly into TGG or Sula?

My son in law went through something similar to yours he got caught and then was told to report to the court in NY where he was headed. When he went to the court they said they had no record of anything for him. Some time after that the paper work arrived, but he had left NY and come to Wisconsin figuring there was nothing there. An order of deportation was issued and after about $6000, 5 years, and a lawyer he finally got the deportation dropped, but now it is like starting all over. In fact his brother just started his process 3 months ago and he is almost as far as we are after over 5 years!
The reason that he got caught was that they started the paper work and he was caught speeding. Before the paper work was started he was not on the police computers, but once it was started they had his information. (I have a nephew in the sherrif department and he knew he without papers, but until the speeding he was not being looked for.) Definitely be careful.

Since she is going to Progreso, she needs to fly into SAP (San Pedro). Once there and she gets on the main road she will have a stright shot to El Progreso (like 20 min ride)!
I do not forsee myself going back until sometime this summer and that is where we would be going. But our plans are on indefinite hold until we hear something. We don't want to spend the money going and then we come back and get the magic phone call! I can't remember if we talked about this, but has she ever been to Progreso? Our case was completed on 4/22, the letter was dated 5/13 and I just got it yesterday. So for those of you going this route just know that once you get the case complete, it moves fairly quickly.
Hope all is well with you guys - I had a bad day yesterday and was weepy all day missing my boy but I feel better today. I decided to countdown weeks because they go by faster than months and makes me feel like we're making some progress. So, at most (hopefully!) we only have 30.5 weeks to go. :)

I have eaten everything I could find and watched the Democratic rules stuff for the past few hours, now I am on to Jeopardy-I need some real cable channels!!! I should be enjoying this.

Ladies-I was reading Analilia's post and got to thinking. I think the hardest part for me was waiting for my decision on the waiver and I pray especially for those ladies that are in that stage because their future is now in the hands of the adjudicator. Up until that point we have some control of the process but once that waiver is in -it is OUT of our hands. Please, remember them in your prayers. Many of us are in different stages in this process and I believe that prayer really works. Some of us are just beginning, some waiting for approvals and interviews, some are through the process and adjusting to life after (some are starting over!!!) I wonder what you guys think about us setting up a time that we all take a little time to pray together for each of our situations. I believe that there is power in prayer, especially when two or more are praying together. What do you guys think?

How about at 11:11 every day? I was told by someone once that at that time you should always think about your loved ones. We're sure to have at least several of us everyday that will be able to pray at that time. But wait, then we'll have to adjust for time zones too.

I love this idea!! I think about and pray for all of you - my extended Honduran family - all the time. I think it would be really powerful for us all to do something like this together.

Count me in!! I'm EST too. We could pick a time in one zone and the rest of us can just adjust, that way we'll all be doing it at the same time.

GOOD CALL, rkzal!!! I am totally in! I won't always be able to be there because of my work schedule, but I will make it as much as possible. What a wonderful idea! Let me know which chat we are using, and I will log on. If I can't be at the online praying session, I will pray at my desk... I do all the time anyway.

How long will the interview appt. be after I turn in the ds-230 and police cert.? I am really starting to get scared about my husband leaving I need to know how long between them receiving these forms and him getting his appt. in Honduras.
y14gemini
06-02-2008, 04:57 PM
Once my case was complete at the NVC. (I think it was complete in September), we had our appointment for Oct.
wanaads
06-02-2008, 05:32 PM
Our case was complete on 4/22 and the interview is scheduled for 6/4. We already went to the K-3 interview though, so he's not going to this one on the 4th.

So once I return these forms, I have only a month or two before my husband will get his appt. Now I am totally freaking out!! This is happening way to fast for me. I am not prepared at all.
y14gemini
06-02-2008, 06:53 PM
The case has to be completed at the NVC first. Then after that yes appt will be soon after. Don't freak out! It just means you are one step closer!! :)

06-02-2008, 07:13 PM
It will be okay. It means you are one step closer to having your husband legal. I was really freaking out when it was time for my husband to leave also but we made it through and so will you. Calm down and take a deep breath and everything will be all right.

tkc .... we're in the same boat right now. I already turned in all our stuff, but we got an RFE by mistake. As soon as our atty straightens the NVC out we'll be good to go. It is scary but it's one step closer to the end.

Hey ladies-I have been having computer problems. I am so excited about this. I am EST, too. I will look into how we can do this. Any ideas? I am always available after like 9pm when the boys will be in bed. Friday and Sat. night are better for me if it is going to be late. When is everyone available? What days are better for you? How often will we do this, weekly?
y14gemini

Pesonally, I think at LEAST once a week!!

So as you may know I mailed an addendum to my HSL. Well I wanted to give them time to make sure they received it and my lawyer emailed them. It looks like they are trying to ajudicate in less than 6 months but they are not guaranteeing it. See the replay from them below:
"Dear XXX,
Our record shows that we received more evidence on your client’s case on May 19, 2008. This new evidence will be considered when the case is adjudicated.
Our current processing time for waiver applications is of six to seven months; therefore we expect to render a decision in his case by July 2008 at the latest.

Police cert. how much should they cost to get in Honduras? My husband's mother told him she has to hire a lawyer to get them, I think she is full of it. Let me know if she is just trying to get more money out of us. Thanks!
y14gemini
06-09-2008, 09:41 PM
You don't need a lawyer! My hubby went to the DGIC and got it. I forgot how much it was (not that much). Maybe because he is not there she is saying that but even with that, I am sure you can pay a little more and get it without him being there. And we all know money talks over there. Good Luck!!

Thanks, y14
I think that she may just want to make sure that it is done right and since he is here that she wont have any issues getting it, but still I hope that is all.

What is DGIC?
y14gemini

Departamento General ????? Criminales (I am guessing, but its the police). Hubby has a friend that works there so thats where he got the police certificate.

One more thing, is there a checklist for Honduras? I can't find anything saying what to bring to the inverview. Can someone point me in the right direction.

tkc - we had a friend of my hubby's get the police cert. First they told him that they couldn't give it to anyone else but the person it was regarding, but the friend went back later on and asked again, was told the same thing, but then the officer took a $50 (dollar) bribe and gave him two police certificates. I know it's crazy, but you gotta do what you gotta do. That's how we got them around April this year.

My fiancé got his report from DGIC (Dirreción General de Investigación Criminal),too. I didn't receive anything from NVC. The embassy sent this information, found also on the website, to me through my Congressional representative. I also send a copy of my I129F packet (just in case). My fiancé said they didn't take the Hoja de Datos page, but it's best to be prepared. For the medical, he went to Dr. Elisa. He said that she was nice. They told him to come back in a few hours for his results and they were ready when he returned. I think Wanaads said her experience with the guy in Comayaguela was less than desirable.
(I'm not sure if the fees are up-to-date).
