Well.. we filed our petition at the end of July and were waiting for a letter saying that the application had been received and that it is being reviewed. We haven't got anything like that and then out of the blue we get a letter with the biometric appointment stating that the biometrics will be done in just a few weeks. Which one is supposed to come first? I thought we would get the the letter stating that the application was accepted first. Is everything on track for us? Thanks in advance!!!

I believe that the biometrics appointment is the first step. You can find a ton of info on AOS on this site:

Good luck!

Yes that's true. You are supposed to receive an NOA that states your application has been received and yada, yada. There is also usually an A# on this letter and a case number you can use to check online.
However, if I remember correctly, the Biometrics letter may contain the same data.
Maybe the NOA got lost in the mail or something?
Either way, it sounds like you are being processed just fine.
I don't think you will really need the NOA anyways. When you get the appointment letter for the interview, that is the one you bring to the interview.

Irweeks1120, same thing happened to us. No NOA or anything, but this weekend we received an appointment letter for his biometrics appointment. Oh well, at least we are one step closer!

That's the correct path. A lot of folks recently are receiving biometrics appointments without NOA1 (the letter saying the app was received and is being reviewed).

You may likely never get NOA1, but you should now have your case number from the biometrics appt letter so at least you can track your case online now as well.

I got my Biometrics letter and NEVER recieved the NOA. I guess this is how they are doing it now......

I don't think its 'how they're doing it' as much as its just part an parcel of being flooded with applications and not being able to keep up with 'receipting' them.

I was just thinking...we sent our whole package together (I-130, I-485 and I-765)...so the fact that they sent the the notice for the biometrics (and in the form it said it was referencing the I-485 and I-765) to be done in about 2 weeks, does that mean the the I-130 was approved (which is the only thing that would make my husband eligible to apply for the I-485)?
It may sound like a stupid question... but I was just thinking that today, and it dawned on me that I wasn't sure...

Thanks to whoever chimes in!

We never got anything about the I-130. We filed the AOS package just like you did and we only received the NOA's, the biometrics appt., and the interview letter.
