My blueberries are looking really good this year. I did not fertilize them though. Anyone have any suggestions to getting big plump berries? Last year they were so tinny!
edit: plump not plum....

They're only 3 years old so they're still babies compared to my grammies gigantic ones. I have them in big containers instead of the ground. I'm planning to do a lot of container gardening this year.

What USDA zone are you in and what soil type do you have?

Emily, you probably already know that blueberries like acid soil... I don't know what else to recommend, but I do think you'd have better results with them in the ground...

OMG on my BIL's farm in western/central MD, they have blueberries the size of large grapes. the bigger they get, the sweeter they get...mmm, i remember they were ripe last june cause i went out there for the weekend the day after school got out for the summer...can't wait! i can ask him what they put on them in terms of fertilizer.

We always plant ours in wet, swampy areas. We call it "sour" ground. Same with mayhaws.
But my grandmother puts lime on hers. Yes, lime. Apparently in opposite world it works.

Guys i know this is really late but again I got tinny blue berries:( I'm disapointed. I guess I should just put them in the ground but I dont know where I have room for them.
There's this restaurant a block from my house that has some huge one's i mean they are really big. I'm going to sneak by there and get some cuttings. One thing i'm really good at is propagating:)
