AHHHHHHHHH!!!

My job is really stressing me out today.. so much so that I have a headache (which is something I very rarely get). No like 9 out of 10 people that have come here today have been smokers, which wouldn't be a big deal if the smell of cigarette smoke (especially stale cigarette smoke) didn't make me sick. I couldn't stand it before my pregnancy but now it's even worse. Right now this one guy smelled so badly that I told him I didn't have any more smoking rooms because I knew I couldn't handle checking him in.

Not only cigarette smells are bothering me, but I can smell every single person's breath and pretty much know more or less what they have eaten and it's really grossing me out... and nauseating me. I've had air freshener by my side all day so I can spray as soon as the people walk out.

Also... earlier this lady called me and I think she was deaf because there were a lot of pauses and I couldn't understand her very well. The phone call lasted seriously for about 10 minutes and I kept having to have her repeat herself etc etc. It was just really irritating and right now she just called back to cancel. Thanks for wasting my time, lady.

THEN these two guys from New York came (I don't know what race they were but they weren't hispanic or white or black) But they were talking in some weird language and kept farting which was DISGUSTING. Well since they paid full price for the room I gave them one of the best rooms which is on the front. They come back not even a minute later saying that they cannot stay in that room. I ask what's wrong with the room and they said they wanted to be in the back and upstairs. So I give them what they want and about 3 minutes later they come back again and say they can't stay there either because there are a bunch of Mexicans over there. Being the pregnant and very irritated person that I am, I ask with attitude "What are you afraid of Mexicans??" lmao and they were like "They're out by there cars with the doors open and blah blah blah yackety shmackety" and I said "Well where do you want to be then?" and then they just told me to cancel the room and I said "Gladly" lol I don't know what it is with people and not wanting to be next to Mexican people... I've had this happen several times and each time it irritates me more.

So then this OTHER guy comes in.. I guess he had stayed here Monday night in 315 (I didn't work) but I had already sold 315 and he was like "You sold my room??!" and I was like "Uh yeah, but I have 316 if you want that" and he agrees. Well I look in the folios to see what he paid last time so he wouldn't complain and I tell him the total and he starts saying that it's not right. I said "Sir, I just checked the folio from Monday and you paid the exact same thing." and he's like "No I didn't" and I said "Would you like me to show you the receipt? I can show you" and he's like "No but damn you're robbing me" and I didn't comment. Well as I'm taking the money he starts saying how he practically had to clean the room himself on Monday and how horribly disgusting it was (why would he ask for the same room if it was huh?!!??) and I didn't really comment and then he leaves and comes back later with an unused open soap/shampoo and a dirty hand. "This is what was in my room and look at my hand. I wiped it across the table and that's what I got" I'm sorry, but this guy is full of crap. We have never ever had a complaint about the table being that nasty. There's just no way. We are not a roach motel... so I try and give him new shampoo/soap and he tells me that he doesn't want it, and that he just wanted to let me know how horrible our housekeeping is and how ridiculous it is... because every time he comes here it's dirty. Well sir, if that's the case, then WHY RETURN TO BOTHER US??!!!! Jennifer had told me about him the other day and about how rude he was. I think he's just trying to get a deal or something. I don't know but seriously I'm ready to go home and I'm tired of all these stinkin (literally) people!!!!!

Thank goodness I only have one more day of work, and if weather-willing I will be at the beach on Friday and headed to see Rocael on Saturday!! I can't wait to see him

PS. I really feel like Im about to puke. BLAH. Will it EVER end?!! :waiting:

It takes a lot of strength to deal with the public and being pregnant on top of it.

Think of Rocael :serenade:

and everything else will soon roll off.

When i was pregnant with my daughter i was a raging *****! I could not even stand the way my ex chewed his food. I had to go eat in the other room and yeah working with the public is hard enough being pregnant intensifies EVERYTHING Try and stay as calm as possible when you are upset, your baby can feel it.

*hugs* I completely understand, as I was pregnant when I was the Front Office Manager with Marriott. Smoking was the worst for me--that and the smell of fish were enough to turn me green. All ou can do is try to stay as calm as possible (not entirely possible some days) and thank god that most people are pretty forgiving for raging pregnancy hormones!

By the way, when you really start showing the pregnancy really comes in handy because guests who are pissed off won't yell at a pregnant woman. My boss used to make me deal with ALL of the complaints when I was pregnant because of it. :)

I couldn't open the door to the fridge (you know those odd fridge smells)when I was pregnant and my poor husband had to switch to a new deodorant because I could be in the room when he sprayed it....your job sounds terrible....sorry

Kiki, I hope you feel better with my first I puked for close to 6 months, the smell of fast food was the worst. I went 8 months without eating fast food cause it was intolerable. She was my healthy baby. With my son it was all enchiladas, flautas and everything else I could get in!

About the smell try and keep breath mints in your mouth so you smell that instead of there funky smell! I can't imagine the drama and attitudes you get in the hotel, lord knows I would go crazy.

It will pass soon! :D

Thanks guys for all of your encouragement. I've just arrived here at work and I'm trying to be optimistic about the day. I'm just hoping it doesn't go over like yesterday.

Also, if I offended anyone about the deaf woman... I just want to let you know that I have nothing against deaf people and cannot imagine what life would be like if I couldn't hear anything. It's just at the moment, that long and very complicated call had me irritated and the fact that after all that trouble she cancelled. So I apologize if I did.

But yeah, hotel business is crazy anyway, and I haven't had a bad day like that for a while.... it was so bad I got a headache and ended up throwing up as soon as I got home. BUT a plus.. I actually slept the entire night through without having to get up for the bathroom!! Woo hoo!! lol :)
