I do not have a definite answer for you but I want to say if a year has passed then yes (as least as far as the medical), but it also might depend on the embassy that you are filing through also! Good Luck or Congrats if you were approved!!

I know at the embassy in Montreal Canada if your police and medical records expire before your approval comes through then you have to have them re-done and submit them when you send your passport in to have your visa places in it. I believe they both are valid for 12 months but I am not 100% sure on that.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Police certificate valid 6 months, medical for one year; this is almost universal. If it takes longer than this to get approved then you have to update them. The consulate will tell you, but they take their time. It is better to be proactive and get them done before being asked. . .saves time.
I am sure Pinkpig will know specifically for Brazil as soon as she see's the post :-)

As far as I know, medical record valid for 1 year. Police certificate – I am not sure (not more then a year for definite).
We had 11 month apart from the day of waiver submission to the visa interview. We did not take any chanced and brought “fresh” police certificate as well as medical record.
If in the embassy they want to give you a hard time- they can tell you that you would not get a visa until you submit a “fresh” certificate. Do you need any delays? I do not think so. In my country for example it takes at least 1 month from the time you applied for the certificate to get it. So, we had everything done it in advance.
And do not forget a current tax return – it is a first thing that they looking for.
Also, affidavit of support is valid for 1 year as well so you might need to re-write it.

My fiance went thru this in Brazil. She had to get a new medical and police certificates since the ones she submitted were over a year old. The medical is good for a year, police certificates for 6 months and the affidavit of support was also good for one year. If it goes over a year, you will have to pay the visa fee again and get new passport photos.

For Canada they are valid for 12 months according to my original paperwork. I am sure glad I went and got an updated Police Cert last fall otherwise I'd be in RCMP waiting cycle which was 6 months last year as I recall.

My fiancee recently had to submit new police and medical reports to the Lagos consulate after our waiver was approved. We were told they expire after 6 months. I am not sure if it depends on the consulate.
