I am worried about my wife's waiver in Acrra, Ghana. Can anyone tell me what is going on there. I have written, and call that office many times still don't know about the status of our case.

How long ago did you guys file for the waiver? I would look into contacting your local congressman or senator and ask them to send an inquiry on your behalf! Best of luck to you!

Don't just stop with one congressman. Check out other congressman and senators in your area and surrounding areas. You may find one to help you out. Each HLS office has different time frames but I think most take 6-9 months (just guessing, not positive).
We filed our I-601 in Prague, Czech Republic at the end of December 2006 when we had our interview. It was forwarded to Vienna, Austria and received on January 22, 2006. Then Vienna forwarded it unto Frankfurt, Germany for final adjudication on June 12, 2007. My local congressman sent an inquiry to Frankfurt, Germany on our behalf the beginning of August and received an email back on August 8th. They said our waiver was received on July 20 and are processed approximately in 60-90 days. We received our approval letter in the mail today that was dated for August 9 (1 day after they sent an email back to my local congressman). I definately feel that a congressman or senator can help you with this matter. Keep calling around or emailing to see if you can find one to help you out!

Well, just so you know, 6 months is not very long generally for waiver adjudication. It really depends on the Consulate though. Normally I would say go to visacentral.net tomorrow at 11:00 am central time and ask Attorney Laurel Scott who has a free chat, but I'm not sure if she's on vacation this week. If she's there, I'll ask for you. She specializes in the I-601.

Try and check list of adjudicating cases in Rome. i learnt from Sunnysol that there is no adjudicating officer in ghana presently. if that happens waiver are sent to Rome for Adjudication . I also filed in Ghana couple of months ago. Check Rome list and see if ur Case no is there because there sre some cases in Nigeria that are being adjudicated lately in Rome since ghana handles cases of nigeria waivers.

That's correct, there is no adjudicating officer in Accra, Ghana. All waivers are being adjudicated in Rome. Try e-mailing Rome for information. I called Accra myself and was told that all waivers were being forwarded to Rome. Please let me know what you find out. My husband is from Accra, Ghana and we will soon be in this situation. We are currently preparing the hardship letter and waiting for his final appeal to the BIA. I hope you find a resolution to your question. Best of Luck!

Thanks again for your help. I know about Rome. I have been checking their web site almost every day. It is sad that not much comes from African countries. The fact that , NO ONE is working on our FILES In Accra is a SHAME.I do have a friend is Washington DC area. His congressman's office did everything possible to help them. I can't get none of the elected officials in North Carolina to help.
I have sent another e-mail to Rome. I hope that they would give me some good news.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Did DHS in Accra tell you that the file had been sent to Rome? or are the people who work in DHS in Accra not sure abotu where it will be processed? Please let us know how things are going with this process. There are not many Africans on this site, and soon my husband will be in the same situation and I am very very scared. We have two very small children. I can empathize with how bad you must feel not knowing where your wife's file is. Please keep us updated and stay strong.

As many time as you wanted. No document is too much for your waiver.

just stumbled on this site again...my wife actually did use Accra when she had to go through this 601 thing in Lagos. It was painful then but at the end she is very much okay. Accra will frustrate you but u have to be patient. At the end and after much prayers, congress, senate help, the adjudicating officer was the one calling me in d US to inform me that it has been approved.

ok. Now I am beginning to worry. I will have to file a 601 waiver for my fiance soon and it has to go to Ghana for approval. Currently, he is in Liberia. I have not found any information regarding approval rates in Ghana and I don't know if it is a good or a bad thing. There is not a lot of information regarding Africa on this site, so I am depending on the few people who are going through Ghana to post their timelines and experiences. I am so glad to hear that someone has gotten approved through Ghana, even though it appears to be a very long wait.
