So my boyfriend and I are getting engaged...he's Mexican and I'm a USC.

What I want to know is, once he has entered the US on the K1, we marry and file for AOS, when are we able to leave the country?

I read somewhere that the intending immigrant MUST stay in the US for two solid years to be able to remove conditions on the green card...but he already misses his family so much.

I want to know, are we going to be able to visit Mexico - or do we have to wait two years?

Also, has anyone married on a K1 and taken an out of US honeymoon?

Just trying to clear up the details! Thanks!

Julie

Yes, he can travel outside the U.S. once he files for his AOS. When you send in your AOS packet, send in the forum I-131, for travel. Then he should be able to go to mexico.

He will also have to go to mexico for his interview for the K1 Visa, so he could go see his family during that time if he wants to. My husband went to his hometown before his interview, ours was a long story, he ended up having to stay in mexico for almost 5 months, so while he was in mexico, i went there with my daughter and we stayed for a month.

Well good luck!

Take a look here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#Leave

If he has permission to travel (part of AOS) or his green card, he's fine to vacation out of the country. He does need to be in the country to file removal of conditions on time.
