Depending which consulate your talking about. I had to wait 5 months until I received my appointment letter from the consulate in Guatemala?

mormita - you will not receive your appointment at the embassy until your I130 has been approved and you have gone through the processing at the National Visa Center.

Your ticker indicates that you only filed your I130 a little more than 2 months ago. I would anticipate that it will take 3-5 more months (roughly) to get it approved - and NVC processing can take another 3-4 months. Unless I am missing something in your case, you have a little ways to go yet before you get the interview.

From there - the embassy will contact you to let you know when it is, but each country is a little different in timelines. If you let us know what country you are filing through - perhaps someone with knowledge on that embassy can give you information on how long it takes to get an interview.

Please disregard my last post (we must have been posting at the same time!! ;) ) - I see that original question was not about your case - and you provided the country they are filing in.

I hope someone with knowledge on El Salvador will help you out soon!!

I am pretty sure that they will schedule the appointment and then send the interview packet out.

Good Luck and I hope an appointment comes soon for your family!!

Ours took almost a year. Our file was transferred in November 2006 and the interview was November 2007. I think ours was extraordinarily long wait time though.
