hubby called both cdj med clinics today about may

My hubby called both medical clinics today in cdj to find out if they would be open cinco de mayo. They both told him yes but that they would most likely be closed May 1. Wanted to give May folks the heads up.

As far as I have observed, Cinco de Mayo is only celebrated in the US. I happened to be in Mexico last year for Cinco de Mayo and everyone looked at me like I was crazy when I asked what they were doing for the holiday. I think it is really just a bar made holiday here and an excuse for people to get drunk like St. Patrick's Day.

According to my husband and mother in law, some state offices in Mexico are closed on Cinco de Mayo and according to Jennyloca, the schools will be closed in CDJ on Cinco de Mayo.

May 1st is labor day in most Latin-American countries including Mexico.

5 de mayo is when the Mexican army defeated the French in Puebla, is not celebrated in most states except Puebla and around D.F.
I've seen most celebrations about this here in The States than I've seen in Mexico.
