Do I ever need tax info in the whole process from I-130 to waiver appoint?

I have not done my taxes in 7 years because I have not worked in that time. My hubby has never done it because he has no ssn(of course). Now I am hearing that we will need to provide this info. Tax returns.Is this true? If so, What do I do and when do I need it? Thanks for any info.

Your husband can do his taxes even if he doesnt have a social..He just has to apply for an ITIN # and he can do up to 3 years worth..I would go consult a lawyer and see what they would say based on needing your tax returns..I do know you would have to get a co-signer if you dont meet the requirements..

Thanks so much for info.we don't "want" to do taxes. I just want to make sure we don't have to. Yeah I know we are going to need a co-sponsor.still looking. Thanks

If you have a co-sponsor I believe you would still send in your taxes as well as the co-sponsor's taxes. In the case that you have no income at all, and hence no taxes, then you wouldn't be looking for a co-sponsor, you would be looking for a full sponsor. So, you wouldn't fill out a I864 at all, it would all be on the sponsor that you find.

Don't you have to file backtaxes in order to get citizenship? I'm not sure how exactly that works, but there has to be some reason so many people on this site are paying backtaxes for their husbands.

Thanks for the info. I was also wondering about the backtaxes? Can anyone tell me why they are paying back taxes for their husbands? Stuck don't know what to do because I have not even looked for a sponsor at all. Help!
