I haven't really had to do this yet, but I was wondering which race box I will check for the little lady when the time comes. I suppose there will be times when checking hispanic will come in handy and vice-versa. Is there an other box? Do you qualify for "minority perks" when you are of mixed race?

I am from a mixed race...and because of that I qualified for some really good scholarships when it came time for college.

I absolutely agree. Always use the other race because it definitely helps when you apply to college, etc. I had the same thing happen when my daughter was filling out her college scholarship papers. Her counselor told her to put down "mixed" because a certain number of scholarships have to go to "other" races instead of all scholarships going to "whites/Americans."

I check what ever will benefit me better. I put white on employment applcations. I put Native when I applied for a native american scholarship. so I put one of my three races depending on what it is for.

I dream about the day when everyone is the same color and people can't hate each other based on that anymore:shy:

Isn't there often a box now that says "Of Hispanic decent" or something like that??
When I was a teenager I always used to check "other" because I was outraged that it even mattered, but that was a long time ago. If I had kids I'd encourage them to be proud of their heritage:)
