View Full Version : Mexican consulate in Kansas City...Any info
Does anyone know the phone number or website for this consulate? And does anyone have any experience getting a passport from there? My husband has still got to get his passport for the DS-230. We have got to get this thing mailed off but can't get his freakin' passport! We live in SC, so need to go through Raleigh, but he is working and living in Missouri right now so he now needs to go there! This is like mission impossible!

Thanks. It is a pain in the butt to get an appt! They said for an immigration appt they would do a walk-in, but I can't make them understand he MUST have the passport to get the appt with immigration! They are rude, even to my hubby. They said this is not an emergency, they can not help. I'm just wondering, how many Mexicans are in the US trying to get Passports every day?

My hubby got his passport through that office... he rang for an appointment.. which was in 3wks from his call... he needed a bill with his name, his original birth cert. which they will keep. and proof of education... my husband took his certificate from secondary school.. they will just take a copy and then he will need his consulate ID too... if he doesnt have an ID he can get one at the same office.. but they will send you to another department. GL!!
Thanks! Did he call them directly, or did he call the 877#?

My husband as well went through this office. It was a pain and they are rude to everyone that comes in there. One man was even yelling at an old lady who didn't know where to stand in line.
Anyway, make an appointment and make sure that he has all original documentation. He needs his birth certificate and his consulate ID. They will have him come back later in the afternoon to pick up his passport.
My husband got his in 2005. So, I will call my friend who just got one in December and ask her exactly what they needed.

Wow why are they so mean? We went to the Seattle office. Other than the pain in the butt parking it was pretty quick and easy.

Thanks! I just can't understand why they are so hateful! You would think they would be nicer to their own people. My husband doesn't have a consulate ID. Uh OH! Is this hard to get? Did they keep you gys original BC's? Will they accept a certified copy?

No, to get the consulate card you just have to show the birth certificate. It wasn't hard at all. They are more picky with the passport. My husband had a crease in his birth certificate and they wouldn't accept it because it was over his birthdate so his mother had to get another copy and fed ex it up to us overnight. It was like $30.

@egonzalez1975 Do you have any input you could give to help taskgirl out on obtaining a Mexico birth certificate?
I've been given some information about Mexico and how long it takes to get one ordered there. Do you know how long it takes if somebody goes into a Mexican office to obtain one.
taskgirl authored the thread "Anyone living in D.F. I need a favor!!" in Gen. Discussions. I'll post there to tell her you might know something.

It was time for my husband to renew his passport and he thought he lost the old one. He had to file a police report stating it was missing. Laurel Scott's office were working on the NVC papers and we were told that if he told them that it was needed on an emergency basis that it might set an earlier appt date. We found it so we didn't go. But if they don't consider the NVC to be an urgency then I wonder what they do consider one to be. Leaving the country maybe!
I've never spoken with any Consulate that was ever rude. That doesn't mean that some aren't. If so, the reason can be that they are like our state human service offices. They have so many people call and come in and the general public can be quite rude to them also, often shouting and cussing at them too. I think the clerks have dealt with the general public so long that they become very calloused and we sense it when we speak with them and wonder why the customer service is like it is. It's not professional to be rude but I guess some of them that are rude might be so burned out (time to leave, no?).

See, my hubby's is his original from 33 years go so it is a mess! I really wish I could get my in0laws to help me get a new one. I know they will, but in their own sweet time. I am the type that likes to get things in order NOW. Oh I wish I could have made the Quinceanera, I would have definately come back with as many actas as they would have given me! I'm also interested in filing our marriage there, as the consulate here told me we should so that I can be recognized as a Mexican resident after 2 years (?) and have rights there also. Not that I will live there, but you never know when it may come in handy.
Do you think anyone would be offended if I posted a "anyone in Veracruz....." thread? Maybe I could just have someone else go into a registro civil and send them to me if I paid them.
