My wife and I have our interview on May 29th in Rio de Janeiro.
Does anyone have any advice on what to expect?
Thanks in advance

On visajourney.com they have the list of what order your papers should be in. The lady that comes out to tell you this has very little patience. If you try to go to your interview without 1 of the needed documents or the documents in the wrong order she has been known to tell you to re-schedule your interview.
Many people who come with the correct passport photos have to go and have them redone anyway.
You really have to expect the unexpected at Rio.
Visajourney has really good write ups of people's interview, you should go there and read them.
If you need to file a waiver, you will not be permitted to file it at your first interview. They will re-schedule you another interview to file the waivers.
Hopefully your visit there will be uneventful. Some people get lucky. Some do not.
Good Luck!

You are welcome.
Welcome to the site and if you have other questions, let us know.
There are many others who are actively filing through Brazil and I am sure they will chime in with help for you.
Our daughter-in-law has been home for a year and I have seen improvement in Rio on their website. So maybe things there are improving.

Boy, I just don't know, the website now states that you do not receive your visa that day, that they send it to you. I do not know how long that might take. It probably depends on where you are having it sent to.
When our DIL got hers a year ago, they had to return to the embassy the next day after 3 PM to pick up the visa.
So I am not sure what their procedure is now.
Hopefully someone will chime in who has been to pick up their visa more recently than March, 2007.
Or you might check visajourney. I don't go there anymore but the link to the site is a few posts back.
Good Luck!

You can say that again. When our DIL was living in Boa Vista, Roraima, and Manicore, Amazonas, it was impossible to send anything back and forth. At first we would send things express and then we found out that after it leaves the US, there is no control over it at all.
We were able to SedEx to Rio a couple of times and that was not as bad.
Good luck with your interview.

Thank you! I guess this time I just need to bring proof that my husband and I are still together, passport pics and my passport. It should be painless, but c'mon nothing is painless in Rio (US consulate). But I can't complain the lady that interviewed us both times was really nice, if I get her again I would be happy. I e-mailed the consulate anyway, don't know who good they are on answering. I know the phone was fustrating. The fact that my passport could be floating around in a post office makes me nervous. Thank's anyway, people here post a lot of good info, hopefully the nightmare will be over soon! :) Camilla
