Questions on K3 Visa Approval

We have rec'd are approval and have attended the 2nd interview to pick up visa. We also have a I-130 approval but only rec'd the K-3 visa for 2 yrs. My husband went to the SSA office to get his SS card but was told he could not receive it because he did not have a workers permit. What are the next steps that need to be done, or applications that need to be filled out.

Hey maripoza!!! Nice to hear from you again!!! You guys will have to adjust status now. I don't know a whole lot about it though. People who have done it or are doing it are J.DeLaRosa, Joeelove, Pooh, Kennah, Jaramillo, Lynn06, and chica99.

I do know that since the fees went up end of July that it's expensive.

So then we have to submit an application for adjustment of status and one for workers permit or does the adjustment of status give you your social. Its so confussing now.

Maipoza, you now have 2 choices really.

You can act on the approved I-130 or file AOS.

If you act on the I-130, you will eventually attend an interview back in the home country for an IR-1/CR-1 visa. The K-3 is a multiple entry visa that can be used to travel back and forth. After approval, your hubby enters with a green card, complete with work authorization and the ability to apply for a SSN immediately after entry.

If you AOS on the K-3, you will follow the guide above and wait for an AOS interview at your local office.
You will obtain EAD, SSN, etc.
