i have ants. lots and lots of them, and those little traps aren't working. does anyone know of a relatively all-natural, non-toxic (except to ants) way to get rid of ants? my mom told me to spray vinegar...

i have a cat and a dog and i don't want anything that would poison them.

my mom claims that the juice from canned jalapeņos works. I haven't tried it yet. The other day I tried sprinkling hot pepper flakes (easier to clean up, I thought...), but that only had a minimal effect. I might just have to resort to the toxic spray. No pets here, yet, but we have to try and avoid anything that can make us more allergic than we already are, including chemicals.

When I was a Housekeeping Manager, we used to spray windex around. It's not as effective as some other methods, unfortunately, but it's something that shouldn't bother any pets! Best of luck with your new tenants! :D

ewwwwww you made my skin crawl.. if you can't solve it you should consider orkin.. I had a pretty good experience with them they use crazy methods such as sensors that keep them from breeding !!

ant terro works really well. you would have to put it where the pets won't get it or you can get terminex.

ants are a huge problem. since we moved to California we have been on the quarterly maintenance with terminex...well worth it. California was built on an ant hill and an oil pipeline. not many other bugs here but the ants are bad.

ants are not fun....good luck.

This is definately not non-toxic, but I have used bleach water. I did one room at a time.....wiped everything down with it (sills, baseboards, hard flooring) and set traps in the corner.......then I closed up the room and none of us entered for several hours......I went back in and rinsed everything down......vacuumed, and never saw another ant.

I did this with our daughter's nursery....(milk had spilled and they found it before I did) and then also with the whole house another year.

well I'm glad you cleared that up  hahahahaha

honestly I don't know what to use other than raid. I lock my dogs in one side of the house and spray those little suckers then clean up and let the dogs run loose. It's a pain in the butt, but I go outside too and spray at the source. I'm just a spraying fool.
