Anyone ever heard of adrenal fatigue? I went to an accupuncturist/wholistic chiropractor this morning for the first time. I have had some chronic problems with my sinuses, allergies, etc for quite some time but it has been much worse the past few months. Allergy medication is not working anymore, my allergist does not think allergy shots will help and I've been unresponsive to steroids and antibiotics so I decided to try accupunture. It was a really cool experience. He was able to diagnose more in 15 minutes than multiple visits to my allergist. The actual accupunture wasn't painful at all and when I did some web research on the adrenal gland it makes a lot of sense....anyone else out there have experience with this?

Yes, I've actually fallen into adrenal fatigue a few times in my life (I think one is happening right now). It is true, when you care for your sleep patterns and watch caffeine, sugar, starch, and fat intake, a lot does improve. And does affect everything across the board, including allergy symptoms.

It's hard because when you're under stress, you're more likely to have a poor diet, get the sleep schedule messed up, and forget to take the vitamins you need. :(

It is amazing I had never heard of this before....Obviously I have a baseline level of stress right now (I think I manage very well all things considered, but it is unavoidable), I get sleepy in the early evening but then can't get to sleep until 1 am many nights. Even on nights when I get good sleep I can't drag myself out of bed in the am and I have always been an early morning person. I can't function without my diet coke...I really try to limit it, so I usually don't keep it in the house, but this past week I bought a 2 liter so that I could have a glass first thing in the morning....crazy I know..also, when I came back home without the kids I decided to use the opportunity to exercise and lose weight. I was doing really well going to the gym several times a week and limited my food. But I was gaining weight, especially around the middle (not usual for me...I am a big hip kind of girl) and feeling overly achy....so bad in fact that I was missing work, so I stopped exercising. I also was getting recurring sinus infections that were resistant to treatment....all of these seem to be possible symptoms of adrenal fatigue.

Although I work for a pharmaceutical company and believe in the power of medicines, I have always valued a more wholistic approach to health care and this only confirms it....I won't go back for another treatment until I return from Mexico, but I will keep you posted.....

....man I am unusually long winded in my posts today....think I am avoiding work on a Friday afternoon:thumbup:
