Okay, I just met with my advisor and I can't believe it!!!!!
I really am SET for graduation in MAY!!!!!!!!!!!:yay2:
I was planning to be done with classes even though (according to my evaluation last semester) I thought I would still owe 3 upper division credits. Apparently someone over in the main office re-evaluated and it turns out I WILL OWE NOTHING!!! I mean, beyond my internship!!!
HOOOOOOORAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
And my advisor and I also talked about my internship options... I cried (stupid) a little bit,. and we talked about differnt options.
The thing is that we start talking about a place that will lead to a career, and that's when I started crying... Because I'm not ready for a career if it means another 2 years without Elias.
I do have the option of taking a leave of absence before doing the internship. But I'm just afraid doing that will put me out of touch.
And my advisor has great faith in me, so listed all these amazing places I could look into working...
Anyway, I just have to keep thinking about it... Please everyone, pray for me to get a sign or something!
Anyway, the point: I am officially done with classwork!!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce::yay2:
I can't believe it! So my graduation (which I can't decide if I want to attend or not) is May 16 or something, in case you all want to come:D

I will pray for you and your hubby but I think that you should really attend your graduation after all the hard work and the sacrifices you've done you deserve to be there, I know it's hard because the one person you really want there won't be able to but I am sure he is so proud of you and so are we. Congratulations and (((HUGS)))

Congrats! What a great accomplishment. I think you should go to graduation and video tape it for your husband. Get him on a cell phone listenening when they read your name....that's how we handled the birth of our son. It was special in it's own way.
What is your field? Is there any possibility of doing something in Mexico that would be valuable to your future career?
Congrats again!

I'm in horticulture. And the thing about that, because the climate is 100% different in Mexico is that I'd have to get a WHOLE new horticlture degree for the south. That's actually my main hardship (when it comes time for that).
Okay, one last class for the day.

OMG - Congratulations!!! That is so great!!! I want to come to your graduation. :)
Can you intern somewhere in Texas, California or somewhere where you would be close to Mexico and Elias could move to a border town? Will you make money as an intern?

Dorothea that is great news! What an awesome feeling it must be to know that you are done with classes. You should be extremely proud of yourself for being able to persevere and stay focused despite everything that has been going on in your life these past few years. Obvious question: are there any international internship opportunities? I know you had mentioned planning to go to Canada, what about up there?

Congratulations on your accomplishment.. And you should def. attend your graduation ceremony. I graduated last may and I was not planning on attending my ceremony, but i know my mother wanted to see me graduate, and let me tell you, it is such a great feeling when you hear your name being called and they hand you over the diploma.. You do not want to miss that.. At that point is when you realize that all the late night studying, or term paper writting, paid off..

Congrats! That is great to hear. I am in school myself and have been debating on whether I can still attend part-time, work full time and be a single mom to 3 young girls, since my husband is in Mexico. A lot on my plate, but it probably is doable. At least it will keep me busy.
My brother has the same major as you, but I am not real familar with what kind of job a person can get with that major. What kind of internship can you get and will you get paid?

:ditto: Maybe that can be an option for you!

Thanks everybody!!
Funny thing about that Texas idea. I've suggested that to Elias a couple times over the last couple months and he flat out refuses to live on the border. That's a new development. I don't know what's up with it.
I did some discussing about this with my family... the conclusion is that I should try again to get my advisor to accept my current job as my internship, which would completely finish the degree.
If that doesn't work out they are adement that I do my internship right away to get it over with. I have been debating putting it off for two years. But really, it makes me more sense to just get it done.
Canada: finding a job there without going has proven to be just about impossible. Over the summer I'll have a little time to go up there.
An far as an international internship, no one knows anything about those options at my school! It's really frustrating.
So my thought for now is to look at some places on Long Island. There are some amazing places there...
Kelly, I am currently managing a small garden center. I am looking to work in a production facility to grow perennial or annual plants.

Does Elias have email? Would it help him to talk to Mr. Adriane about his experiences living on the border? I think after all that you have sacrificed living in Queretaro for 6 months and being willing to move to the border he could find it in his heart to move North in his own country....
Our 14 months in CDJ haven't been bad at all. Yes, there were adjustments, but we made them & it was fine. FYI, Mr. Adriane grew up in Tlaxcala (very similar to where your husband is from) and in Tabasco, a jungle-y, crazy-humid, coastal area. Very, very different climate, culture, etc.-wise from the border- but he adapted. Elias would too.
Either way a HUGE congrats on a job well done!
