In Laurel's chat from several weeks ago, she said that the approval date is irrelavant after reaching CDJ. But I want to have written documentation from the consulate that it is ok to come for the open appointment after the original approval date has expired. I have called the call center (they don't have a clue), I have sent a fax (but most people have been saying they never get a response), I have sent an email (but got an auto response saying they don't answer emails.)
Any ideas?

I was wondering the same thing. Our validity period runs out July 17th and was wondering what would happen if we didn't get our open appt. letter and get to CDJ by then. We were looking at the calendar last night trying to plan on when to go and all but there is really no way.

Mishu - knowing CDJ, the likelihood that you are going to get written confirmation of anything from them is slim to none. I'm just being realistic. Try not to stress about this.

I know that it will be hard to get something written, but I am really scared to go to CDJ after the expiration and be turned away and have to start the process again.

I am fairly certain that Laurel Scott mentioned this in one of her chats. With the K-1 application for a fiance visa if you do not get your appointment before the date on your NOA 2, they just extend it. I don't think that they will give you anything in writing. I don't know anyone who actually had theirs extended. Most folks have their interview scheduled before the expiration date. They are the ones doing the scheduling and unless you did something to delay their schedule, it should not be a problem. Try not to worry.

I was really freaked out about this too. I made copies of everything and sent a certified letter to CDJ. They did respond and sent basically another version of the open appointment letter and said come anytime. I will email you a copy if you PM me your email address. We are in CDJ now, our original letter expired on 12/25/07 and I haven't had to show the second letter once. We were in the system at the medical clinic and Banamex.
