What is going on with his file?

I contacted Athens yesterday. Athens received his file April 3rd. Ok, they sent a request for his file from America. It has been over four months and Athens still hasn't received his file from America yet! What is going on? How can I find out how to speed this up? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:p

This is not what you want to hear and I am sure that you already know this but they have requested his entire Alien file from the US. It looks like he has some old "dealings" with immigration and I am sure those files are not easily accessible and also his "files" can be in different places. Even though you probably have supplied them with copies of all of his "paperwork" in dealing with immigration, I know that they have other paperwork that they do on people that they do not give you copies of. So they are waiting on all of this paperwork from different locations within the US, some of which I would think could be archived. I do not know how you can speed this up and it could go on for a while (I am guessing). This is a problem that others have encountered.

You can certainly request constituent services from your elected officials. It is a crapshoot whether you can get someone to help you or not. But this is definitely bureaucratic redtape that you are dealing with and to ask congressional help is certainly in order.

the A file takes a few weeks, but 4 months is insane. More likely is that they're also waiting for the fingerprint results. And using snail-mail consular post, which could take over a month each way. they should hopefully get something soon, but yes, try to be patient for just a little while longer.

thanks for the help Lulu and Pinkpig. I contacted my Senator in Alabama, Senator Arlen Specter, by e-mail. I doubt he will help considering he is against immigration, but I will just try to be patient and see what happens.:(
