Yep I attended an all Mexican Birthday party on Saturday. Wow it was amazing. They had a whole pig, beans, rice, picco de gallo, corn tortilla's, Tres leches cake, some jello stuff and lots and lots of Beer.
I thought I would feel like a sore thumb, but everyone was so nice. They didnt even know I was American until I spoke. They helped me with my Spanish and I helped them with English.
I didnt know what to expect but had the best time. I am looking for reasons to have another party already. Oh and my SIL said I am speaking spanish very well. Just wanted to share this with ya'll. Can't wait till the next one.

I think it was a pig because here in NC they are famous for pig pickins. My girls kept on saying "Momma look it has teeth it is smiling at us" lol

I love the Jello cups too. But geeze I eat sooooo much then they give me a big chunk of cake and expect me to balance that with the jello cup and eat it all. How did you like the first bite of cake of the birthday boy/girl? Was it a good face smoosh???
Am I the only one that does not like tres leche cake?

I kind of like that cake ..but it depends on the bakery that makes it ..because man ...those cakes are so sweet ..
and as much as i like sweets ...that is a little too much for me ..

I have never been to a "full fledge" Mexican party but this past New Years my fiance and his family all gathered at his brother's house and did the pig deal. We made carnitas and had all the dressings...guacamole, tortillas, salsa, etc. Then at midnight they shot their pistols and had the music playing. Some of us danced a bit inside. None of his family drinks but they made sure they bought the beer in case someone came that did...LOL! We had a blast!
I can't wait to go to Mexico this summer and go to the rodeos and parties there! I am hoping someone has a birthday, Sweet 15, or wedding while I am there!!! I love the food and love to experience new things!!
