View Full Version : Removal of Conditions timelines?

How long does it take to remove conditions & get permanent green card? I know timelines vary drastically from place to place, I was just wondering what other people's experience was on theirs.

Here in Alabama they only issue drivers licenses for foreign nationals that expire with whatever document was used to prove status. Since his Conditional card expired after 2 years, his drivers license expires the same day his card does. I *THINK* they will renew his drivers license with a NOA showing that we HAVE filed, but since the NOA doesn't give an expiration date, I think they will only renew it for a short period of time (like 90 days). I'd hate for hubby to have to take a day off work to go stand in line at the DMV and keep renewing his DL until his permanent card comes in.

Been waiting since May.
Had biometics already. According to the VSC, they are processing Jan 07.
Hope we get word soon!

So we are supposed to use the NOA for proof of current status, correct? We can use the expired Conditional Resident card & the notice of action showing we have filed, until we get the new card in the mail (once approved).

Yup.
It says right on the NOA for the I-751 that your status as a conditional resident "has been extended" for 1 year.

I used my NOA here in Califrnia and they extended by D/L for another year.
BTW I applied for removal of conditions in June and I received my approved/card ordered notice in mail today. maybe they are making up for the fact I had to wait a year from my interview for my first green card :).
Web site says Californai SC is processing applications recieved in FEB 2007.

Received my unconditional green card today. It only took 2 months from when I applied. Unlike my conditional gc which took a year from when I was approved

Scottie, Glad to hear it. All you have left is the citizenship papers. Congratulations and have a wonderful life....

If you have been married less than 2 years when you get your GC then you get a conditional one that is only good for two years and you must apply for removal of conditions. If you have been married for more than 2 years than you get a GC good for 10 years and renewable after that, but there are no conditions.

Can someone please tell me whether I can travel with expired conditional green card and extension notice (I applied for a permanent green card in July 2007) and as of today still waiting. Thank you
