Hi, I created a Myspace account 3 days ago on (March 5th, 2008) for the purpose of Immigration reform. I already have 27 friends.
Please come join my page. I think if we could get some real numbers together we might be able to get someone to listen to us.

Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to see you on my page.

Very commendable trying to organize! Looks like your issue might be something American Families United is already advocating for.
You might want to visit the website http://www.americanfamiliesunited.organd see if the goals and mission of that organization fit your situation.
 No need to go to all the work again of creating an organization if there is already a group you can join that is working on this.
:thumbup:They would be happy to hear from you.

Ok, well many things appear great on this website but it seems sort of stagnet as if not much has been happening lately. I SAW A note about them starting a new page or forum, maybe that is why?. I'm going to check them out and see what is going on. As far as a forum about the current laws, this website I2US IS THE BEST.
I'm still trying to gather people on myspace though 102 in 14 days. I want to help people who have these issues find out where to vent them. If I don't have to create an association to do this, that is great, but I still want to help people get their stories heard.
Thanks again,

You are correct we are setting up a new website. We are migrating to a new site as we speak.
You are incorrect that "not much has been happening lately". We meet via telephone conference call EVERY THURSDAY evening. We have daily emails with each other as well.
What is nice about American Families United vs a Web Forum is you meet the people on the phone and in person very quickly.
We organize local events across the country as well as employ a professional Lobbyist in Washington DC who works on our issue with legislators on our behalf. Several times a year we go to Washington as a group and personally lobby our legislators.
Raising awareness like you are doing in the myspace forum is a great thing, many people do not know about the suffering families go through. Giving people a place to "vent" has value and I understand that.
I think if you have the kind of energy that can get people motivated to "do something" you would be a powerful force in our organization and I encourage you to get involved.
We have a professional lobbyist who can point your energy in a direction that can potentially effect legislative change. At the end of the day our goal is not so much to get our story out (although that is a part of the equation), its to get Congress and Senate to get off their a_r_s_e_s and create legislation that will relieve the suffering of our families.
I posted because if you are interested in getting involved actively in lobbying for CHANGE OF FAMILY IMMIGRATION LAWS, we are advocating specifically on your husbands issue which is legislative relief of the permanent bar you are facing.
Again, please join as a volunteer we could use your energy.

Um... first I just want to apologize I meant to say it appeared that on the Website(it self) nothing had been updated for awhile, but that is clearly explained by the NEW website that is being done. Sorry for that.
I'm pretty busy lately with what we have been organizing. We are setting up an email tree system so that we can speak out systematically. One thing that we are doing differently is that we are purely volunteer and no donations or anything, additionally because of me being outside the country everything is pure email and electronic submissions.
It was very helpful reading about the American Families United because it did alot of the things that we (another member here lucas weeks) and I had been wanting to do in an association. So we decided to abandon the idea of doing a new association.
However, I will take your suggestion and check out the new website to see how my group can be involved.
I think what we are doing is valuable and if anyone wants to be part of the email tree for writing to our legislators come see our page!
