Hi everyone, it has been a while since I was last here on the forums due to my immigration case. Unfortunately after spending thousands of dollars I have found out that my lawyer had filed my case totally wrong because he never even researched my case nor the charges on my passport made by the INS. This attorney is ****** is situated in California and is quiet well known (at least thats what I thought).

Thanks to this forum I found out about my charges and would ask him about it through e-mail since it was IMPOSSIBLE to speak to him on the phone, and even then he would fail to reply my e-mails on numerous occaision. Even his assistant started feeling bad about this. Funny thing was that after I obtained his services, I gave him all my information including scanned copy of my passport but he still never asked me questions regarding my visa refusal. He was even supposed to interview me according to his assistant but that interview never took place for some unknown reason.

During this "wait" time I checked with other lawyers and every one asked me for a copy of my passport to see the charges and then would interview me in detail before giving me their opinion, whereas with ******, that NEVER happened. It was like he assumed it was an easy case and he had it all covered. I read on ILW.com where Laurel Scott had advised other lawyers to first check their clients charges before giving them any advice and also get their info through the FOIA, and I passed on this useful info to my lawyer but he never even bothered to reply my e-mail like it was offensive to suggest that to him.

It took me about 3 weeks of calling every day before he called me and acted as if he was doing me a favor and even then he didn't show any interest in my case. Hope my mistake will help other people here who are desperate for help and can't afford to waste their hard earned money. Maybe the mods should make a sticky to warn other people about such lawyers.

That really sucks, thanks for letting us no to stay clear of him. Word of advice though. I'd be REALLY careful when talking bad about an Attorney on any public forum because this could be seen as "damaging their reputation", and it could lead to lawsuit. If this were to happen to me I'd definitely want to tell everyone I could, but I'd also be careful to protect myself in the process. There is nothing against emailing the name to others on this forum or pm'ing them.

Just my 2 cents

dan1el - I have to take out the name of the attorney. We have a policy not to slander people here for various reasons. I'm not saying whatever happened was not validly a bad experience but as a private forum we can't be responsible if this person were to be upset with the content of the post. If anyone wants to know the name of the attorney Dan1el had a bad experience with they can send him a private message.

Also some Attorneys are just plain in it for the money. There may not be much money to be earned in this immigration field due to all the hard work they put in, but some don't actually do anywork but just take your money.

Laura,

This was also what I thought BUT can we pm each other with the names or is that also against policy?

Thats fine Laura, I can understand that. Just that I didn't want other would-be victims falling in the same trap as I did. Again, I respect the rules and if anyone wants to know then maybe they can message me in private IF thats not against the rules. Taskgirl, your mailbox is full thats why you cannot recieve my PM.

No, you are free to talk amongst yourselves about whatever you like! :) We just can't have that name out here in case Mr. **** comes to visit.
