I wouldn't mind trying to make my own... how difficult is it?

Unless you want complicated ones, it is pretty simple...just trimmed squares/rectangles....fabric can be expensive since you need so much. I know how to sew, but not very well and curtains and pillows are a few of the things i would attempt to tackle...clothes...no way

I've made all my curtains, and they aren't that difficult. The fabric is spendy so its best to go with sheers unless your prepared to spend some major $$$. If you have a local Wal-Mart check their fabric section. They have 1.00/yard on most sheets, and sometimes 2.00/yard for heavy drapery fabrics. They get their fabric from closeout, from their clothing factories, and other "secret" locations most likely in china.

I have sewed all my curtains. I can put up pictures later, I can't now, I am at work. I have also made swags.
I have used fabric and also cloth shower curtains and sheets! It all depends on what you are looking for.
Usually very simple to do if you measure correctly, also for those who don't sew you can use that tape for hemming that you iron on. Works ok.

super easy!
Walmart is great for inexpensive fabric.
Super simple curtains just need a hem on each end. You can make an opening for a rod or just buy inexpensive clips.
Another super simple & cheap curtain is sheets. You can pick up a solid colored twin sheet @ Walmart for around $3...so $6 bucks a set. Just cut a small hole in the top hem on the back and add a rod. ALthough it looks better if you make a small seam on the top.
You can embelish with tassels, lace, ribbon, other fabric, embroidery, etc depending on your decorating style.
I am always designing on a dime:D

Is that tape really that good though? I have thought about using tape to save time, but have wondered if it faster to just use the sewing machine.

Sewing is better, but if you can't sew, the tape is a good alternative.
