What are you going to do when DHorDW leaves for first interview, will you go with?
We have four children and we rent, I am trying to decide what to do when that day finally does come, do we stay or go with him, at times i say go and then I get nervous and say stay, because what would we do if he has to wait in Mexico due to not getting approved how would we move everything and where, what would we do when we got back?

I lived in Mexico with my husband from the summer of 2004 to the summer of 2006. At that time, there was no pilot program, so all I-601s were automatically backlogged. We had relatively few attachments in the US and no children, so it was relatively easy for me to go with him because I had just finished college.
We lived in Ciudad Juarez and I commuted across the border daily to work in the US. We are very happy with the decision we made to live in Juarez. A long-distance relationship would not have been a good fit for us.
You and your children will not be allowed to go into the consulate with your husband for his interview. You would have to wait in the hotel or on the street outside. Perhaps you could send him alone, then if he doesn't get approved through the pilot program, you could go down. Whatever you do, have a realistic plan B that you can all live with in case he does get backlogged.
There are several members besides me who are living in Mexico with thier spouses or who have lived there in the past. Losguerra, Adriane, and SLVM are a few.

ditto...although for the first trip to CDJ I went with our children, it turned out to be an expensive decision because we were not approved thru the pilot program and ended up with lost tickets, etc. There really is not much reason to be in CDJ for the appts other than moral support and if finances are tight and child care arrangements are difficult, it might be better to wait until you know if he is going to be spending an additional chunk of time in Mexico and then using your money and time to make those arrangements.

My hubby and I discuss this same thing all the time. Like you I go back and forth on whether to stay or go. I have read too about the kids and I not be able to go for the interviews..so I wonder if waiting back home is the best. I worry about being backlogged..we have a mortgage and I also have concerns about disrupting our 3 kids lives. I would have to work 2 jobs to cover us financially. My husband and I have been saving for 3 years for this. We have cut back alot on the extras in hopes that it will all pay off in the end. I try not to worry but, sometimes it makes me plan better..we all have such an uncertain future on this site!..glad were all in it together!..hang in there..PM me if you need to chat!:)
